Everybody's got their something – (Chapter: chasing pavements)
“Alright you two knock it off, Spencer you have to finish packing.”
“Ok mom,” we both reply.
“Ok I love you both. Now finish packing so we can spend time together.”
She turned and walked away and I was a little saddened by her look. She seemed so broken and just down. I never meant to put her through this but my promise to glen was now my promise to her. I needed to give it up.
Glen pulls me and reminds me that I need to finish packing. I was pretty much taking my whole room, and glen’s jersey. He took mine so I got to take his. They have the same last name on it anyway.
After we finish we head downstairs to watch one last movie before I leave. My mom chose the grindhouse movie with Quentin tarantino; she knows it’s my favorite.
Before I can sit and get comfy the doorbell ring. I’m not expecting anyone but whatever I’ll take any visitors before I leave though it would make me feel better.
I walk over to open the door and when I do a huge smile spreads across my face. Ashley is standing there waiting for me so I step outside. We stand around for what seems like hours until we hear a horn honk.
I look over to see Aiden waiting in the car and my smile fades.
“Why are you here Ashley?” My tone is probably harsher than I want it to be
“Spencer don’t be that way, I came to see you before you left….I mean I won’t be seeing you for two years…”
“Yeah I didn’t really think you cared, and your boyfriend doesn’t seem too happy about you being here” I’m really annoyed by this, why did she show up with him?
“Look Spence it is what it is. You lost me and that’s your own fault. I still love you but…”
“Psh ash you don’t love me, the day after you dumped me you were fucking him in his car…”
“Spencer that isn’t your business. Never mind, I just came to give you this. Read it when you get to Lincolnwood. I don’t want to lose touch with you Spencer. I hope you write me. If I don’t hear from you I’ll just assume I wasn’t worth is to you.”
“You are always worth it to me ash…”
“Ok then prove it.” As she turned to walk away I grabbed her arm to stop her. She just looked me in the eye and gave me the longest hug I’ve ever gotten. After a quick kiss on the cheek she ran to the car and they pulled off. It was probably the last time I would see her.
I just walk back inside and finish the movie, there’s no way I could feel any crappier today, I just lost the love of my life.
**********************************************************************************************
We load everything into the taxi and I say my goodbyes. Glen and mom decide not to go with me to the airport; they said if they did they probably wouldn’t let me leave. After all the hugs we pull off and I figured that there’s no point in looking back. That was my past and I’ve just been shipped off to my future.
I’m Spencer and I’m going to rehab
