Austin re-joined the table and nodded at Spencer as she sat down, I was definitely missing something but I was pre-occupied, my mind kept buzzing and I needed to talk it out. I whispered to Spencer that I was going inside for a bit then pulled my phone out of my pocket.

‘Can I talk to you?’ I text Amy and got a swift ‘Yes, your room?’ I agreed and went inside and up to my room and a minute or two later she joined me.

‘You OK?’ My friend asked as she gently clicked the door shut behind her and leant against the wood. She looked good, as always. Her short hair was spiked and she had on a black tank top and tight jean shorts, I’d have been SO interested if it wasn’t for Spencer and also Amy’s connection to Maggie.

‘I think so, I just haven’t had chance to talk to you all day,’ I smiled at my friend and she grinned back at me.

‘Yeah, it’s been busy day,’ she agreed and watched as I went to lie on my stomach on the bed.

‘So you and Thea huh?’ I teased her, a blush told me I’d hit the mark. ‘You really like her? I knew the answer before she nodded, it was obvious.

‘I really do Ash, and she listens to me ya know?’ I knew, some girls were all ‘me, me. me’ or didn’t have the brains to say anything worth hearing but every time I’d seen the pair together today they had been deep in conversation.

‘I’m happy for you babe,’ I grinned again and turned onto my back, letting out an exaggerated sigh.

‘Dude! What’s up?’ She came to join me and made herself comfortable on the bed, propped up on the pillows facing me. I lay with my arm over my face, gathering my thoughts.

Amy was silent as she patiently waited for me to talk. She never pushed and that made her a great friend for me. We’d been spending a lot of our free time together when I wasn’t with Spencer and the rest of the crew. I mean I considered them my friends too now and was getting on surprisingly well with Addison and Kate despite the bitchy, jealous start I’d had with Addison. I had a lot in common with the couple, I mean I liked the others just as much but sometimes they could get a bit hyper, I don’t do hyper. I did brooding and Kate and Addy were much less excitable, we just clicked and that was why I’d had no problems being myself with them earlier today, by the pool house. They made me feel secure enough to show my vulnerabilities around them plus they were total petrol heads so we talked cars a little too much for Spencer’s liking sometimes. Anyway, focus Ash.
