    Panic: Part 3. Read it. It’s worth it.

    Ashley swerved into the clearing, unbuckling her seatbelt and jumping out of the Nissan at the same time.

    “Spencer!” She yelled into the distance. Nothing. Aiden was out of the car now too, squinting into the night, hoping to catch a glimpse of Spencer.

    “Spencer!” Aiden yelled, his voice echoing across the expanse. Aiden glanced at Ashley as he stuffed his hands into his pockets.

     “Spence, baby!” Ashley yelled as loud as she could, pouring all of herself into it.

     “Ash?” It came from a couple yards away. Ashley and Aiden looked at each other before breaking out into a sprint in the direction of the reply.

     “Spencer, sweetheart!” Ashley said as she pushed her way through branches and vines, skipping over bark and debris.

    “Ash!” Spencer had run out to meet her, a few feet away from where she and Casey had been. She fell into Ashley’s arms, sobbing into her shoulder, clutching her tightly as if life did indeed depend on it. Aiden ran up ahead to check on Casey when he heard another noise, faint, but fast approaching.

     “Oh, Shit! We’ve got company you guys!” Aiden yelled as he ran back towards the girls. “Let’s go!” he continued as he steered them towards where the Nissan would be.

    “No!” Spencer said suddenly.

    “What, baby, what?” Ashley said anxiously as she ran her hand down Spencer’s reddened and tear stained face. “We can’t just leave her here!”

     “Who?” Aiden asked.

    “Casey! We can’t just—“

     “You guys get out of here. I’ll take care of this.” The officer who had been investigating Spencer’s case was walking towards them from where Casey was. They hadn’t noticed him turn up. He looked different. The fire in his eyes looked as if it had been extinguished and despite the way he was standing it was obvious he was tired.

    He spoke again, this time more reassuringly, an eerie sense of understanding in his tone, “Just go. I’ll take care of this.” The sound of police sirens wasn’t as faint anymore as Aiden hurried them to the car. Ashley held Spencer in the backseat as Aiden pulled out of the clearing, speeding onto the highway.

    3. thanks guys! im just sorry i didnt post sooner. i seriously wrote like 3 posts for this chapter but none of them fitted…the writing was off and it just didnt make sense. im really glad you liked it! i think this one is my fav. -sarah
