Always Her – (Chapter: chapter nine)
I knocked on her door, anxiously waiting for her to open it. When she finally did I stormed passed her.
"We need to talk."
"Okay. Nice to see you too."
I began to pace the living room, my hands clenched together. This was it. I had no idea what would happen and I hoped I was making the right decision. I looked at her and tried to let it out.
"Ash, I can’t take this anymore. I don’t know if I should even be telling you this but I’m going to anyway. You’re all I think about. All day, all night. You’re like.. like… the sun. And the moon, and grass, and air, and the ocean. You make me feel alive. Because of you I look forward to waking up each day. And.. and when I go to sleep I’m always happy because I know that I’ll see you the next day. Without you there is no me."
I paused. I knew I was making no sense whatsoever. My brain was going about seven hundred miles a minute. There was so much to say and it seemed like I had a limited time span to say it in. I looked at her again. She was looking at me like I were some new life form. I sighed.
"Ash, what I’m trying to say is I love you."
Her eyebrows scrunched together, trying to make sense of my rambling.
"I’m in love with you Ash. I can’t hide it from myself any longer."
I stopped pacing and sat on the couch. She looked completely shocked. I waited for her to say something, anything. I swear I heard a mouse scurrying in the attic somewhere it was so quiet.
"Oh."
My heart dropped to the floor. I had just told her I was in love with her and all I got in response was ‘oh’. I was humiliated. I stood up preparing to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"Home. This was a bad idea. I shouldn’t have come here."
I felt like a puppy with it’s tail between it’s legs.
"Spence wait. Here I want you to see something."
She grabbed a notebook from the table and handed it to me.
"This is what I was working on before you showed up. Read it. Please?"
I took the notebook and read what she had written on the page.
As she stands in front of me
her eyes searching mine for the
words that just won’t come,
I search back for hope and reassurance.
I see the beauty both inside and out
but I also see a conflicted soul
not sure of what to do or where to go,
sensing the possibilities
but still afraid of the outcome.
No one said how difficult this would be
the confusion slowly eating at my mind
suffocating me with agony
and leaving me endlessly alone.
Somehow it has to work itself out
because inside I feel like I’m dying.
The happiness on the outside is an illusion
the frustration that keeps building is unbearable.
I feel isolated and out of control
because love is right in front of me-
and yet just out of reach.
I looked up, confused.
"Um I’m sorry Ash but what’s this supposed to mean?"
"It means that I’m in love with you too Spence."

Holy shit that was awesome! The build up was so good I really thought Ashley was going to run until she did that. I’m so hoping they can work out a way to be together in the real world. I do enjoy seeing Spencers point of view it’s always good to see both sides. Great update ppms.

Hi there! I’ve just spent a very pleasurable morning catching up on your story from the beginning. I can only say ‘WOW’! I love it. You’re a great writer. The suposed one shot was amazing and I’m with the rest of them when I say I’m so glad you continued this. Although I hate that at this point Spencer isn’t with Ashley I’m really looking forward to taking the journey with them. Oh, I also love how Arthur is on the know. The differing points of view are good too. I’ll be a regular reader from now on and I can’t wait for your next update xx PMS!
