Always Her – (Chapter: chapter eight)
Ashley’s song was without question the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. It blew my mind. And it was for me. The words meant so much to me, each line bringing back a memory of our relationship. Some people would say it had gotten off to a bit of a rocky start. Or possibly a gossip laden start. That was the thing with Ash, people liked to talk about her.
The summer before my senior year at King I was at a party with the queen of gossip herself Alicia Montgomery.
"Uh oh. Looks like Davies is eyeing you."
I glanced over to see a brunette looking in my direction. She was surrounded by a hoard of guys and girls, all doing shots. We made eye contact and she flashed me a smile. I sent a small smile back. Alicia must have noticed.
"Watch out for her."
I gave my friend a confused glance.
"I’ve heard a lot of stories about her. Drugs, drinking, arrests and the like. And something involving a moose, but I’m not too sure how truthful that one is. But the one thing I can tell you is she’ll sweet talk you to get in your pants. And by that I mean she’s a fuck ‘em and dump ‘em kind of gal. I know from personal experience."
I looked up, shocked.
"Experimental thing. Plus there’s no denying she’s fucking hot as hell."
That was my introduction to Ashley Davies.
In the days following the party I saw her around a few times but we didn’t officially meet until about two weeks later. I was sitting in a small coffee shop near my house when she approached me.
"Hey, weren’t you at the party a few weeks ago?"
I looked up at her and nodded. She smiled.
"I’m Ashley Davies. But you probably know that already."
She held her hand out to me and I shook it.
"Spencer Carlin. Wanna sit down?"
She sat across from me and looked me over.
"So you’re new huh?"
I looked up to find her grinning at me. Alicia’s words suddenly raced to the front of my mind. Was this the beginning of her ‘sweet talking’ ways? Was she trying to hit on me or was she just being friendly? At that moment I knew I had a decision to make- make it blatantly obvious I wasn’t interested by being a bitch, or hearing her out to see what she had to say. I chose the latter, not realizing that the conversation we had would be the start of a tremendous turning point in my life.
