    Author Notes:

    An old friend shows up at The Planet; Ellie reveals a secret to Alice; and Alice forgets to do something.

     

    “Oh my god, I love this song!” Ellie cried.  Jumping up from the table where the gang had gathered to watch the concert, she ran to the front of The Planet to get close to the stage as Tegan and Sara began playing the first strains of “Love Type Thing.”

    Shane laughed as Ellie rushed off.  “She’s just as crazy as ever, Al,” she noted.

    “Yeah, she is,” Alice replied with a smile as she caught a glimpse of the back of her sister’s head jumping up and down excitedly in the front row.

    “Wow, she seems to be really enjoying dancing with the ladies,” Jenny observed as she pointed at Ellie, who had pulled another woman near the stage close to her.

    “Yeah, I guess so,” Alice agreed confusedly, watching as Ellie and the other woman swayed to the music together.

    “Hey, Dane, remember the last time we heard this song live?” Shane asked.  

    Dana tilted her head to one side and listened to the song for a few seconds; she laughed as she recognised it.  “How could I forget?”

    “Wait a minute; you guys went to that Tegan and Sara concert a couple years ago?” Alice asked indignantly, her attention suddenly diverted from her sister’s antics.  “You were supposed to take me, Shane!”

    “Yeah, I know, but Dana needed a night out,” Shane replied, remembering how she had taken Dana to the concert to help her get over her depression about breaking up with Lara the first time.

    “So, what happened?” Alice asked, looking at Dana expectantly.

    “Yeah, you have to tell us now,” Carmen joined in, leaning across the table to hear the story.

    “My lips are sealed,” Dana replied, looking down as a blush crossed her face at the memory of that night.

    “She did acid,” Shane answered for her, wincing in pain as Dana punched her arm in response.

    “What?!?” Alice yelled before bursting into laughter.

    “Oh my god, I would have loved to have seen that,” Carmen said, as the rest of the gang quickly joined in Alice’s mirth.

    “It was quite a scene,” Shane agreed with a grin.  “Dana even started dancing on stage at one point.  Weren’t you convinced that Tegan and Sara had outed you in front of everyone?”

    3. Well, you were right…that was pretty sappy, but wonderfully so. I actually said “awww” out loud there at the end. Ellie and Lara would totally be cute…is it weird that I can picture them together in my head, having no idea what Ellie looks like? Oh well. This was fantastic, as they always are.

    4. what a nice surprise to find such a quick update this evening! And, it’s totally sweet that you give me credit for spurring you to bring a sister into the mix. (though I have to say you’ve one upped me with the whole notion of Lara still being with a Pieszecki—just thank you for not bringing Lenore into the picture! Again, I loved the way you capture the inner turmoil of all the characters. And the way they work through it in relationship to the other characters (not only Alice and Dana, but also the whole gang with Lara, and Ellie with Alice and Lara with Dana and…well, you get the picture….I’m totally loving where this story is going!) I do think you’ve managed to nail the ‘living’ with cancer issue…as opposed to ‘dying’ with cancer, and I for one think that’s fantastic. Good luck with real life, and I’ll be waiting patiently for your return! :)

    7. I’ve been out of town so was so glad to catch up on your updates-wow, this chapter really moved things along. I heart this fic and how you are shaping things. The “debriefing” was totally sisterly–nice touch. And thank you for keeping my girl Lara in the mix, yay! Can’t wait to see what is in store for her (but I like what you’re getting at…) and Danish too. Please post soon, I’ll be leaping with joy!
