My One Special One – Chapter 25

My One Special One – Chapter 25

    Previously…

Tina had been right.  Her husband had never made her happy.  But he had made her pregnant so she vowed to end the affair and devote her life to raising her family.   She filed the love away in her mind and heart; then tossed the key that would unlock those memories into the trash can of regret and missed chances. She would gather her happiness from the smiles of her children.

Now the phone call had been made and they would meet again.

Ann allowed her mind to finish the attempted confession from just a few moments ago…I know I broke your heart but throughout these long, lonely years I, too, never forgot – and I never stopped loving you either.

It was 5:45 pm. The Commonwealth’s last witness stepped down from the witness chair.   Pete had put him through a grueling cross examination but Tina still felt confident.  Through all of Pete’s subtle attacks and cunning attempts to trip the police up in this case, the witnesses held strong.  When the police do their job right, as they should but sometimes is not the case, cases are won and the bad guys do get their due.

Tina knew, as well as her higher ups and the police, that putting this defendant away will be significant but it in no way is going to obliterate drug trafficking in Philly – or have an overall major impact on the drug trade.  There’s way too much money involved in drugs.   There will forever be those who become addicted creating a greater need for a constant supply.

Tina’s minded drifted for a nanosecond to Rick, the night person at her building.  She briefly spoke to a few other residents about him.  Consensus was his days were numbered.

“Ms. Kennard, are you with us?  Do you have any other witnesses for today?” the Judge bellowed.

Tina reached the point where she just ignored the ignorant bastard dressed in black.  It had become pretty evident to everyone in the courtroom this Judge simply did not like her.   Let him look the fool.  She respected the robe he wore and what it stood for and not one single thing about him.  Both Steve and Pete noticed a couple jurors shaking their heads.   For Steve that was a good sign; Pete didn’t like it at all.

    1. Bruno Magli shoes? He borrowed shoes from OJ? This guy can’t be Tina’s brother if he’s wearing OJ shoes. Let Bette get there early, please. Please post again soon.

    2. Now I don’t want to see tina get hurt by any creepy creep or slimeball, though I would think that since she knows they have been trying to get to her, she would be a tad less naive about letting people up…BUT Bette is not the cavalry!! Why does everyone want her to walk in to a mess and get hurt herself???

    3. That guy is not Tina’s brother is he? He is going to harm her unless someone gets to her and saves her. I could be wrong but the description of the penetrating eyes is the same way that the guy stalking Bette was described.

    4. OMG Bette hurry home to save Tina, she in danger right now and this is gonna be bad. Please don’t let any bad thing happen to Tina and hope Bette get home in time to save Tina. This guy is not Tina’s brother or is he, maybe or maybe not oh I don’t know but let find out on the next chapter post soon please, thanks!

    5. That random moment on the first page sounds like Tina’s mom remembering something from her past. Hmm…Either Greg is just weird, or that’s not really Greg. =O I wish you could post more often. This story is like a book you can’t put down.

    6. OH MY GOD, WHAT A PLACE TO STOP!!!! … Just kidding, I love your cliffies, and that’s what makes your writing so great! Makes me want more, oh so much more, of this amazing, thrilling, hot, sweet story! Just hope that you’ll post soon, and that you’ll keep Tina safe. But I trust you, cause the drama you insert in your stories usually makes them so fascinating, romantic and endearing! So lkg fwd to the next chapter, and for now, THANKS A BUNCH!!!
