My One Special One – Chapter 4

And without blinking but still blushing, Tina turned and said, “Perhaps this evening will let you know if I’ll be a definite keeper.” Tina smiled and followed John to the table – leaving Ms. Bette Porter at a definite loss for words.
John had placed Bette and Tina at a corner table that was in a private area of the room. When Bette saw him leading the way to that table she was happy. They could have a conversation without the world listening in, not that many people were having dinner anyway.
They had just finished their main course and had been talking about every subject under the sun. The conversation was so easy between them. More than once they both had stopped talking and just stared at one another until one or the other suddenly broke the silence –
“So,” Bette asked, “what do you think so far?”
“About what?” Tina cocked her a head a bit.
“You know, our compatibility test.” Bette waved her index finger between them, pointing at Tina, then to herself.
She wasn’t sure why she did it, but she did – Tina reached across the table and placed her hand on Bette’s cheek.
“I don’t know what or who is telling me this, but I think you and I are going to ace that test, Bette Porter.”
The touch of Tina’s hand on her cheek sent a shiver down Bette’s spine and set the butterflies to jumping in her belly. This is a little too much for me to take in – I’m not used to these feelings
Bette leaned her face into Tina’s hand and softly kissed her palm.
“I know it’s a bit early to say this, but I really feel comfortable and at ease with you, T.”
“I do, too, Bette. T? Do I have a nickname now?”
“What? Oh, I didn’t even realize I said that. That’s funny, it seemed so natural to call you that. I guess you officially have a nickname.”
“I like it – yes, I do. It’s now something that uniquely belongs to us.” This time it was Tina that waved her index finger, first pointing at Bette and then at herself.

I don’t understand what IC is thinking sometimes. B&T can be together and we’ll still understand that life isn’t a fairy tale. Let them have each other to go thru the hard times together. ‘Foever Place’ is right. Great story. I’m counting on it to get me thru the sad times in season 3.
