Tina guessed this was the time they got to be out of the cell without having to work but the shackles were still on everyone’s feet. Bette was chatting with another prisoner but her eyes would ever so lovingly slide over to where the Tina was standing with a smiling Thomas.

“Really” Thomas’s voice caught her attention, turning from Bette.

She swallowed hard, “Thomas, I do want to get married but I’m just not ready for it, right now.” Tina hoped that wasn’t too harsh and at least he would get the point she was making.

He nodded dejectedly, “I understand”

“You sure” She didn’t want to lose this friendship and she didn’t want to see him hurt.

He nodded forcefully this time. “Yeah”

Bette didn’t hear a word Angus was saying to her. It still hurt to stand but she wanted to be out here. He was in the cell next to her and a bisexual man, who couldn’t keep quiet about how he liked it up the ass. This had to be the most homophobic town Bette came across in her travels. They were ecstatic when she tried break out her friend and second in command to her, to lock her up. Bette hoped Shane had made back safely, it had already been a week.

But since she’d seen the blonde everything had become secondary to her thoughts. Now as she stared at Tina talking to a soldier she faintly remembered someone referring to him as Thomas, she felt a hint of jealousy in her gut. Their body language stated that the soldier was madly in love but not the blonde.

Hope soared through her like a damn breaking free.

They made eye contact; Bette couldn’t help but gave Tina the most loving stare there was to give anyone.

Henry made his way out of the jailhouse. He spat the tobacco he was chewing on the ground. He hated it when the prisoners got the day off, it always stripped him of his power and made him feel useless and inadequate. The sun was scorching hot, he could practically see the heat radiating off of the ground.
