“That’s crap.” Tina blurted out.

Bette’s face showed confusion at Tina’s foul language.

“Not your story, I meant the way they handled it. They did that because you’re a lesbian.”

“What”

“I meant… sexually inverse” Tina hated that term. “That doesn’t sound right. I prefer to use the word lesbian.”

“Yeah” Bette answered. “Took you that long to figure it out.” Bette laughed.

Tina smiled then busted out laughing with the brunette. “No”

It felt good to be laughing again. Bette couldn’t remember the last time she had a reason to laugh. Getting serious Tina bravely took another step towards Bette.

“Are they ever going to let you go” she asked sadly looking deeply into those big brown eyes.

“I don’t know” Bette replied her heart felt crushed. She’d finally met someone who awakened feelings in her and, here she was stuck behind bars. Tina gave her hope for tomorrow and that it her day would only get better.

“Where are you from” Tina asked. She wanted to know as much as possible about Bette. She didn’t care who was staring at them or took the time to eavesdrop on what they were saying.

“Ford County” Bette replied. Now she had a question of her own. “How did you know my name?” realizing how dumb it was since she was famous around this terrain for being the leader of a county considered sinful and they were all going to burn in hell. The whole normal religious talk. “That’s a dumb question, since I’m very famous in these parts.” she tried to correct herself.

Tina smiled at how Bette was ranting. She appeared like a nervous child, too cute. “Bette…” Tina nudged her arm. Bette was shocked that Tina would continue to openly touch her in public, considering the complicated nature of their relationship. The blonde’s touch felt cool against her freshly washed skin.

“Yeah, you’re pretty famous… even where I’m from.”

“Really!” she exclaimed.

Tina nodded smiling. “Really…”

“And where are you from?”

“It’s a land very, very far from here.”

They smiled again at each other. Both unconsciously took a step forward.

Hazel pools continued to stare into brown pools. The love between them was so strong even Thomas felt it from the distance where he was standing. It broke his heart but he respected Tina too much and just wanted her to be happy. Henry felt nothing but jealousy and hate, hate especially for Bette.

“Times up” Henry shouted “back to your cells you animals.” His eyes were on Bette as he said that last part. The sarcasm dripping in his voice meant for one person.

Henry was going to get Tina whether she liked it or not.
