    Does Bette get another chance, or is one all we get?

    "You know Bette, that last one was really pretty…not that you would have noticed, since you didnt even bother to look at her." Alice just shook her head. She understood that Bette just wanted to spend time with them, but damn…she would have been ecstatic to have even a quarter of the women Bette had, asking her to dance.

    "Yeah man…that was kinda cold…" Shane was sitting with her friends, taking a short break from all of the temptations continually walking past her, once again thanking the heavens above for making her a *****.

    Bette looked back and forth between her two friends. "I know, I know…I shouldnt have reacted that way. But I came here tonight to be with you guys, not to dance with a bunch of women I don’t know. I mean, my God, she was the sixteenth woman in two hours! Aren’t there other woman out there that are willing to dance?" She stopped for a moment and had the decency to look guilty. "Look, I’m sorry for doing that. I shouldn’t have taken my frustrations out on her, and if she comes by this way again, let me know and Ill apologize to her."

    Bette let out a deep sigh, and looked around. "It’s just that…sometimes I get tired of all this…" She waved her arm around, encompassing the room. "Sometimes, instead of coming here, I wish that after work, I could go home to someone…you know, someone who I could share a quiet evening making dinner with…giving each other foot massages…going to bed together every night…getting up together every morning." She stopped for a moment, then added in a whisper, "Someone who I could maybe even have a family with…" She looked down at her hands and then looked up at her friends with her big brown eyes, looking like a sad little puppy dog. "You know what Im mean, right?"

    Alice got all choked up, knowing exactly what her friend meant, cause she was looking for the same think. "Yeah…I know," she whispered. Shane also understood what Bette was talking about, but wasn’t about to let anyone know that. She too had always wanted to spend her life with a soul mate, but that was a dream that had been squashed early on, when she had learned the hard way that all relationships end at some point or another…some endings better than others, but endings just the same. That’s why she didn’t do relationships. If you have no expectations, and therefore don’t let them in…when they do leave…and leave they will…it’s so much easier on your heart. Deep, deep down Shane knew that wasn’t all true, and that she was lying to herself. But of course, when you’re lying to yourself…you’re the last one to actually admit it. So, keeping with tradition, Shane said what was expected of her. "Hey, whatever you want, guys. Me…Im a fast food kind of girl…instant gratification is more my style…if you know what I mean." With that, she winked at them and moved off into the crowd.

    31. Sea…. This is simply D_E_L_I_C_I_O_U_S. I enjoyed it for many reasons namely the writing is superb, the flow is just melodious and like icing on the cake your selection of words are just ultra sensual the kind that gives you goose bumps and the end result just give this wonderful tingling feeling I was reading this with the same silly goofy grin throughout this chapter.
      I was so into the story I could swear I can hear back ground music in my head singing this song… Love is in the air~~ everywhere I looked around love is in the air every sight and every sound~~~ And I don’t know if I’m being foolish Don’t know if I’m being wise~~~ But is something that I must believe in And it’s there when I look in your eyes~~~~ love is in the air~~~ love is in the air~~~ LOL. Sea you’ve made me act like a complete fool here LOL and I don’t normally show this goofy side of me publicly but this story is just to damn sweet to not react like this *smile *

      I absolutely believe that when that love of your life stands before you even the most eloquent person just turns all wobbly and words fails just fail ya people.. hmm~~ this sure brings back memories *ah~~~~ :o)

      Adore the way you integrated the lost earring scene into this story.
      This has been a wonderful interlude and would love you to continue but understand if you want to carry on with “If it is meant to be…” as I am crazy and passionate about that story as well.

    50. I’m almost embarassed to post my stories anywhere near this. It was perfect. I think Ilene and Showtime could easily make up for the heartbreak of season 2 by giving us some flashback time in Season 3. We could just submit this as a script.
