The next gift was a wallet. We were giving Kit, Alice and Helena purses and knowing that Shane wouldn’t be caught dead with a purse, we decided to give her and James wallets. It had her initials on it and was a practical gift. The next gift was one that I had chosen knowing Shane. She rarely told anyone that she was a chess player. It was something that she was great at and during the time that Tina and I weren’t together, we spent many evenings playing. Another thing that people weren’t aware of was her fascination with Winnie the Pooh. After much searching I was able to find a place that did custom orders on their hand crafted chess sets and immediately ordered her one with the characters as pieces. It was truly a work of art. Pooh was the King, Kanga the Queen, Owl was the Bishop, Eeyore was the Knight, Tigger was the Rook and sweet little Piglet was the Pawns. Her tears were immediate when she opened the box. She was not able to say anything as she fondled the pieces. The set she had was a functional one from Wal-Mart but this one was something that she could cherish for years to come.
The last gift that we had was one that she and Amy could use together. It was to a bed and breakfast. Amy had come into her life and accepted us for who we were while falling in love with Shane. She had been supportive, helped with Angie and helped make Shane a happy woman. For that we would always be grateful.
“Bette, this is all too much. I can’t accept it.”
“You can’t not accept it Shane. We love you. It’s nothing compared to what you give us daily. Please take them knowing that we love you.”
“Thank you so much. They are all great. This chess set is amazing. Amy plays too and will love it. Thank you.”
“Thank you.” We hugged and both of us were crying. Together alone, we were able to do so much more freely and had often done so when Tina was gone.
“Come on, we have to get you ready to marry your woman.”
We went and got my clothes. She told me to dress and that she would then start on my hair and makeup. I went back into her room and changed. I really loved the outfit. I opened my bag to take my shoes out and there was a wrapped gift with a card attached.

Today you become my wife and just the thought of that makes me happy. We’ve overcome so much to get to today and I can’t believe we’re actually going to have it happen shortly. Thank you for loving me and for being both kind hearted and passionate. Both shine through daily and make my life more complete. I love you. I adore you. I crave you. I can’t wait to see you and take you in my arms. Today starts the rest of our lives. I can’t wait to make the journey with you.

I opened the box and the necklace that matched the bracelet that she had given me in North Carolina was there. I just held it in my hands knowing that she too had held it. Shane knocked on the door as she opened it and took a look at me. She saw my tears and asked what was wrong. I showed her the necklace and she just smiled. She took it from me and put it on. It looked sensational.
She sat me down and applied my makeup. She then did my hair. Kit came in and hugged me. Shane did her hair and makeup before packing up and going next door.
“Shane?”
“Yes.”
“Tell Tina I love her.”
“I will but I think she already knows.”

Awww… Have I told you lately, NAG, how I absolutely, freakin’ love this story? I don’t know how your writing can get any better and I can’t thank you enough for the love and joy you poured out in this chapter and all the 71 previous ones. I wholeheartedly agree with these lines => “The ceremony was just a way for us to express our love before our family and friends. As much as I thought I needed it in the past to validate us, laying there touching where our babies were growing and basking in the love that she was radiating, I knew I didn’t need that validation. Every day as we grew as a couple validated how right our relationship was and how right we were for one another.” The wedding will cap the many highlights of these soul mates’ beautiful, triumphant love story. I think all of us will be wiping away happy tears by the time we hear/read their wedding vows. *Thanks a bunch, NAG!* And Shane’s secret fondness for Winnie the Pooh and friends made me LMAO! :>

I also love how Tina always leaves a note, and the necklace was too precious (wipe tear away again). I cannot wait to see how you write the wedding sequence and their vows, I know that it will be breathtaking!! L,once again you have outdone yourself. First and formost I have to say “I knew you liked Shane and could see her soft side” haha. Love all the careing from the fam and you well know but laughed when Peggy made her apparence, in such Paggy fasion. I my heart I know you will always let the girls be ok, but with those twists and turns ya can shake us up. Thank you for the concern of my health, I have little time for recovery so know that I’m good and wrecking things daily, but fixed a lot of things at the habitat house yesterday, it’s comming along nicely.Ok, I’m looking over at a minilla folder, and thinking were almost in the same place w/If you never say anything, NAG, love both but this is a part of my life now so please ring those wedding bells. the conversation with bette and sam brought tears to my eyes.. sam was so loving to bette and showed no judgement about the past… wow. love how catherine knows when to step in and how not to overstep the boundries…Peggy is just too much,lol. bette and shane did me in, i can imagine how the rest of them are gonna be when they get their gifts… :)PPS

This chapter was a happy emotional one for me. All the love shown by every person in their family was enlightening. It just goes to show that you do not have to be blood related to share a wonderful family. I was extremely happy that you have included Tina’s mom, dad and biological father. Hope that the G man allowed you to get some well deserved rest.
