Where You Go There You Are

“Exactly” James proclaims waiting for her to piece the rest of it together.  When his excitement can’t wait any longer he continues.  “What is this artist all about?   Abandonment … rejection?  Isn’t he all about life after being left behind and to express these thoughts he leaves out the objects which represent the loss.  What better way to carry on his theme then to leave out the center stage?  The whole purpose of the show.  Do you see?”

Angelica sees James point a broad smile enhancing her face as the revelation agrees with her sense of propriety.  Yes she sees what James has so masterfully done to create the illusion through placement of the artist’s artwork to enhance the artist’s theme.  “Yes I see it now.  It’s brilliant James.  Just brilliant.  Do you always look for an artist’s theme?”

“Well every artist seems to have one so often I do look there but I don’t always have it fit in so neatly.” James explains then sits back curious.  “You’re an artist.  What are your themes when you draw or paint?”

Angelica considers James for a moment.  “I don’t have themes.  I’m not that deep but in the few pieces I have done that have gotten recognition I have used some of my confusion about who I am to motivate me.” Angelica confesses.

“Confusion.  Interesting that is a theme many artists have used over the years.  It’s interesting because confusion is about conflict and no two artist illustrate it the same way..”  James lets the moment pass but stores away Angelica’s answer.  He’s going to have to look up her work and see how Angelica expressed her confusion.

Bette leans back away from Tina but still she felt her cheeks heat up at the ferocity of Tina’s attack.  Apparently the issue of her daughter’s orientation was not an issue she had given a lot of thought too.  Bette hadn’t meant anything other than conversation about Angelica by her comment.  Trying to back pedal, “Tina I didn’t mean to imply anything.  It’s just what I have observed over the last day or so.  I’m sure Angelica is just trying on her dancing shoes and hasn’t settled on any particular pair yet.”

Tina still agitated but can’t explain why.  “Bette I don’t care what your opinion is.  Angelica and I have gotten along fine just the two of us for more years then I care to remember.  You have known her what 24 hours and you want to call her gay!  She has had boyfriends and others friends.  I want her to feel free to be how she wants to be.  I don’t know what kind of stories you people have been filling her head with but I …”

By this time Bette had heard enough, “If you mean by you people you are talking about  the people who care about you, love you and have always loved you.  The people who have accepted Angelica with open arms, no questions asked.  The people you left behind then yes it us people who have taken Angelica in and kept her safe.”

    1. I know Tina is exhausted and worried but she needs to get a grip, she’s just being a nonstop bitch. And quite reactionary, I must say. Bette was perfectly right to yank her chain and Tina better get it together quickly so she doesn’t drive her daughter away for good.

    2. Hey, Tina may have a a few hard days, but she needs to back up a bit. She hasn’t even said that she’s glad to know that Angelica is safe and sound. And that if she ran anywhere at least she ran to people that Tina knows would take care of her. Good for Bette for finally giving some back.

    3. I get it, Tina is terrified. If Angie chooses to stay with Bette, regardless of the reasons, Tina will be all alone and she’s terrified of that. Even though she was lonely after she left Bette she had Angie. These two better start doing a little talking, and a lot of listening.

    4. you must be reading my mind. this is what i deal with most of my day, people who dont fucking listen. ive been tired before, but god people just do cuz they can and dont think about what theyve done. thx

    5. Tina is afraid that Angie will love Bette like everyone else does.also herself. Dhe hasn’t forgot how loveing kind and openhearted the gang is. Just afraid of losing her daughter. thanks

    6. Tina is being a nonstop biatch but she is scared out of her mind that Angie has found this particular set of people and that she might want to stay there. Tina is petrified but she should get herself together and remember they have kep her child safe when she could have been wandering around LA with no protection. Bette should have jumped into the middle of Tina’s shite. If I were Bette I would not talk to Tina anymore, she should just have James bring Angie home to Tina. Tina needs to talk with Shane before she talks to anyone else and get what Shane knows about her and how she got there because I’m sure Frankie has told Shane more than Bette knows. Then Tina should talk to Angie and find out how she came to be in LA without her friend and their family. She did not just run away and all that needs to be explained to Tina and the gang. Angie is young, very smart and headstrong. Thankfully she walked into Shane’s shelter with Frankie. Great chapter. I see you have already posted another chapter. Must go read.

    7. Ouch! I think Tina is too nervous to keep talking with Bette. I guess what truly bothers Tina is that she is scared that she doesn’t really know a lot of things about Angie. I hope she can get her shit together and listen to Bette for once! Great cahppie Jwet ;)

    8. Oh Tina…take a breath and maybe a valium. Wow she’s really all fired up. I’m sure Bette will calm her down given the opportunity to get a word in. Thanks for writing.
