What Becomes of the Broken: Ever Fallen in Love?

"Not really. I just want to sleep." Helena took the glass from Bette’s hands and sat it on the end-table beside them.

"Then we’ll sleep." She laid Bette down and climbed behind her, holding her as close as possible, "Just know that I’m here to talk about it, if you ever need to and that whatever it was you were dreaming about has to get past me to hurt you." She kissed the back of her neck a nuzzled her curls.

She could feel Bette breathing slowing down and knew she had fallen asleep. Helena fell asleep soon after, using Bette’s soft breathing as a lullaby.

"I had a great time last night." Helena said as she waited by the door.

"Me too. I always have a great time when you’re around." Helena blushed brightly. She hated that Bette could do that to her so easily, without much effort.

"Call me when you’re ready to decide about…well, you know what about." Helena leaned in and gave her a soft kiss, with just enough passion to let Bette know what had been on her mind all morning and to keep her thinking about her all day.

Bette watched Helena walk away and to Alice’s car. She pulled off as Bette closed and locked the door behind her. She closed her eyes and sighed. My life is so fucked up. Bette thought. It seemed like as soon as her life started getting back in order, things went in a different direction. She had adjusted to a new job, a friendship and a shared parenthood with Tina, she was taking care of her brilliant daughter, and had started a new relationship with Jodi. And then came Helena.

Helena was there all along, but she never expected to fall for her. She never expected for Helena to be on her mind constantly, or for her to need her companionship so badly she could taste her own desire building.

And then there was the dream. Was it true? Was she no better than her father, the man who refused to see her for herself, or was she worse?

She picked up her phone and dialed a familar number.

    "Hello?"

"Kit, it’s Bette. I need to talk to you because I know you’re the only one who’ll understand. I had a dream about Daddy last night."

    1. Ash another good chapter,,,,I liked how you had Bette have a nightmare of Melivn tellin gher she was like him, I would have noever thought of that scene but it was acurate IMO. But she loved and controlling and that is a dangerous combo. Love Kit, she has always been the voice of reason when it comes to Bette and the rest of the gang. Loved how Helena comforted Bette that night and that was love not using a person. Also, lovedhow Bette finally made the decision to talk to Jodi and also to see that Helena decided at the same time to give Bette a piece of her mind,,LOL,,sure hope that Jodi tells Bette I think it good we do this and Helenea arrives to hear tha tpart….once again loved it.

    2. The fact that Helena didn’t push things when post-nightmare Bette said she’d rather sleep than talk shows how sensitive Helena is to Bette’s needs. But I love the passion of pissed-off Helena too! These two definitely belong together.
