What Becomes of the Broken: Ever Fallen in Love?

The room was dark, accept for a bright red light that was flashing periodically. He was standing in the corner of the room, egging her on and telling her she would be nothing more than he was. She was just like him, maybe worse. She had cheated and broken hearts, and she would do it again. As much as Bette protested, he continued his tyrant on her life. Even as she began to fight him, he continued to taunt. He gripped her shoulders, bruising them, holding her back away from him. She wanted him dead, and she wouldn’t stop trying until she murdered him.

"You can fight all you want, Elizabeth, but I’m not going anywhere. My blood runs through you."

Helena was awaken in the middle of the night. Beside her, Bette struggled in her sleep. Sweat beads were forming on her forehead, goosebumps began to appear on her skin, a salty fluid was building around her eyelashes. She was murmuring something as she faught with the sheets. Helena reached out, bringing her close to her body.

"Bette, sweetheart, calm down." She whispered softly, "You’re having a bad dream, honey." Helena held her tighter as she felt her body slowing down, "It’s okay. Just a bad dream."

Bette rolled over to face Helena. The tears that had formed in her eyes were beginning to fall. Helena only held her closer. She could feel her heart pounding against her and her body felt clammy.

"I’m going to get you a glass of water. You should probably sit up for a little while, okay?" Bette just nodded, trying to catch her breath, "I’ll be right back."

Bette ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. She didn’t like to have people see her cry, especially people who she couldn’t gage as far as their reactions were concerned. She didn’t like crying in general because it made her feel weak, something she despised.

"Here’s your water." Helena said, "I even put some ice cubes in it." Bette looked up at Helena, who looked particularly satisfyed with herself. Bette laughed softly and held her hand out for her water.

    "You’re good to me."

"I try." She sat next to the sweaty and shaken up brunette, "Do you want to talk about it?"

    1. Ash another good chapter,,,,I liked how you had Bette have a nightmare of Melivn tellin gher she was like him, I would have noever thought of that scene but it was acurate IMO. But she loved and controlling and that is a dangerous combo. Love Kit, she has always been the voice of reason when it comes to Bette and the rest of the gang. Loved how Helena comforted Bette that night and that was love not using a person. Also, lovedhow Bette finally made the decision to talk to Jodi and also to see that Helena decided at the same time to give Bette a piece of her mind,,LOL,,sure hope that Jodi tells Bette I think it good we do this and Helenea arrives to hear tha tpart….once again loved it.

    2. The fact that Helena didn’t push things when post-nightmare Bette said she’d rather sleep than talk shows how sensitive Helena is to Bette’s needs. But I love the passion of pissed-off Helena too! These two definitely belong together.
