Weho Days – part 3 – Collecting Angie

Helena smiled at her impatient children.  She opened the trunk and then took the bags  from Bette’s hands to place them in the car.

"Bette come on.  I can fight and drive.  Let’s go get your daughter."

    Bette hesitated.

"I wish you wouldn’t wear those damned sunglasses," complained Helena.  "I can’t tell what you’re thinking.  Are you so angry with me that you’re not going to see Angelica?"

"I’m thinking," said Bette slowly, "that I’m afraid."

"Mummy!  Hurry up!" demanded Jun Ying.

"We are coming baby.  Just as soon as I have convinced Auntie Bette here not to be so silly."  Helena turned back to face Bette.

"Bette.  Car.  Now."  She smiled gently,  "before my children riot and destroy it."

Bette nodded at last and walked around to the passenger side while Helena supervised refastening of seat-belts.  Bette opened the door and lowered herself into the leather seat.  A blast of cold air gave her a jolt.  She felt sick.  Helena jumped in beside her and started the engine.

"Hood up?  Hood down?" she bellowed.

"Down, down, down" yelled the children together.  Helena laughed and pressed the button to lower the hood while the children cheered.

"Is it always this noisy?" asked Bette faintly, still experiencing nauseous panic.

"Except when they’re asleep…get used to it."  Helena accelerated gently away from the house.  "Of course the main advantage of putting the hood down is that you can’t hear them so much.  Why are you scared Bette?"

"What if it all goes wrong today?"

    "What can go wrong?"

"She may change her mind.  Angelica might not recognise me.  Or maybe she’ll miss Tina and cry all day."

"Hold on Bette.  You have been over-thinking this. I spoke to Tina this morning. She is not going to change her mind; Angelica will be fine; sometimes kids do get cranky but they get over it and so should you.  Okay now stop worrying about that stuff.  I’d rather you stayed angry with me."

"I am still angry with you."

"That’s alright then," said Helena wrily.  "Dare I ask why?"

"I still can’t decide Helena whether your grand gesture was patronising interference, arrogant bullying or just plain stupid."

    "I’ve already explained…"

"And I don’t believe you.  Alice told me that you were going to fight to keep Shaolin open; that you didn’t want to close it and give Peggy the satisfaction of seeing you fail."

    1. I think Henry should be spirited away to work at the bottom of a diamond mine in Azania! BTW, what ever became of your story with the phone calls – is this a continuation? Thanks!

    2. I’m glad Henry was taken away by the undercover cops. He is jerk for saying those things to Tina, Bette and Helena. I do feel bad for Helena. She will be going to the beach and have to witness the strong bond that Bette and Tina still have for each other. They may say hurtful things to each other, but their body language always says they are still connected.

    3. okay…liked it..but not feeling it…have absoltely, positively, unequivocally no sympathy for tina…it’s all about b&h…leave tina at the his-ouse to think about henry…really good chapter to inspire this much emotion. lol…post soon.

    4. This by far the best and most realistic Bette/Helena story. I think Tina deserves to stew in her confusion and be jealous over Bette and Helena’s growing bond. I seriously need more of this wonderful story.

    5. It’s a shame Bette has been reduced to a timid, silent, passive person because she is in constant fear of Tina taking Angelica away. It seems that Tina has all the cards, hopefully she will start to play fair…even though this is their lives and not a game. That was funny, Helena’s security taking Henry away…he deserved it, he was being way out of line. Hopefully the way he was talking about everyone Tina has gotten rid of him for good. Helena can’t be too pushy with Bette or she will push her right back to Tina.

    6. i hope helena keeps that image of bette, angel and tina forever etched in her mind!!! she can’t have them both, I mean Tina and Bette…and Tina is not straight just confused and conflicted over Bette’s betrayal of her with candybabe as would anyone be!!!!

    7. I really liked this chapter, I just don’t liked when Bette invited Tina. She should say NO and stay in her house sad and crying =P And Henry huh? LOL I laughed a lot, he deserved it… Please keep going, and let Bette, Angie, Helena and her children have a good time together…
