    A Family Gathering At The Planet . . .

    Okay so I take after my mom Bette in the cooking department, but hey give me a break Im only twelve, Ive got an excuse. I decided to bake mom a cake for her birthday. I used aunt Kits recipe book. I just did, a sponge cake, it was the easiest. Well actually I did three sponge cakes, if you must know. The first time I didnt realise you had to keep whisking the ingredients until your arm practically falls off, so when I took out of the oven it looked more like a pancake than a cake, and it had kind of like a crusty edge to it.

    The second attempt wasnt too bad, except I kept opening the oven door to check on it and it didnt rise, so I figured if I left it in longer it would. It didnt it just burnt. So I had to have another attempt. I guess I got lucky because this time it worked. It was absolutely perfect, well aunt Kit said it was, and I believed her. I covered it in chocolate frosting, because mom loves chocolate, I mean I do too, but thats not why I did it. It was for her. Honest. Okay maybe it wasnt, but I was making it so I got to choose. I also piped Happy Birthday in big letters. It took me forever but it was worth it, it was a culinary master, piece even if I did so myself. I think Ill be a chef when Im older. I dont think aunt Kit liked the state of her kitchen when Id finished though cause she kept giving me funny looks and shook her head a lot and I could have sworn I heard her cussing something about how I was just like my godamn mother.

     

    What do you think aunt Kit? Do you think mom will like it? I beamed, as I started placing the many candles around the cake.

     

    Its beautiful kiddo shell love it. She said.

     

    Mom sure is old, you wont be able to see the cake for all the candles by the time Ive finished.

     

    This made aunt Kit laugh.

     

    You better not say that to your mom, shell have a fit.

    4. That was so AWESOME. Gosh i just loved that. My mouth went (THUD) to the floor. OK sweetness aside. WHERE have you been. I have missed this so. Shame on you for leaving me hanging for so long. I’ll forgive you if you post soon. :)
