    True Love Way – Chp 1 (Re-written)

She sat down and her mother was almost jumping up and down on her seat. She handed her daughter two envelopes, one particularly larger than the other; there was also something bulging.

“Two?” Tina asked curiously. A thought flashed through her mind, but that was just too surreal. No, she shouldn’t get her hopes up, she’d only end up disappointed and mad at herself.

She took a deep breath and extracted a sheet of parchment out of one already opened envelope, only to find her book list. She read it quickly, not interested in the least. She would only head to Diagon Alley at the end of the month, when everything was cheaper because of end-of-school year- reductions. It was also nice to run into some schoolmates and catch up before school really started.

She took the second envelope, which was heavier than the first. She turned it upside down and a badge fell out of it. She held her breath, not wanting to look at it. It lay upside down on the table, but was unmistakable what she had hoped it was before she had forbidden herself to even think that. She opened the parchment that was inside the envelope and read out loud, caressing the beautiful letters.

    Dear Ms Kennard,

we are pleased to inform you that we have found you fit to take upon you the role of Prefect to your House, Gryffindor. Your badge, which you are to wear at any time, is included. You are expected to spend the train ride to Hogwarts at the date of September 1, 2009 in the Prefect Compartment. It is also your duty to guide the first-years to your common room that same evening. There will also be a gathering on the date of September 4, 2009, which you are to attend and which is organized to inform all Prefects about their duties.

    Yours sincerely,

    Minerva McGonagall
    Deputy Headmistress

Tina looked up, a bright smile gracing her features. Sally Kennard jumped up and pulled her daughter up to give her a hug.

“I’m so proud of you, Tina! I always knew it, I knew since you were born that my little girl would be a Prefect!”

“I wonder who the other one is… I really thought Dana would be a Prefect. She seems so perfect for the role. She’s like the perfect student. Oh God… she’ll be so disappointed!” Tina already started feeling bad for her friend. She imagined the Quidditch-adoring brunette as she would receive her mail and only find her book list… Her mother woke her up.

    1. Hey Genner, Good to have you back and continuing this magical and mysterious concoction of stories. I do hope Bette gets knocked down a peg or two by Tina. Then a fine romance can begin. Please post more soon. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
