Shane: Wow, I didn’t know she had cancer. I actually, umm my friend Dana, she had breast cancer. She umm, she died from it two years ago. It was really tough.

Alex: I can only imagine. Was that the same Dana Alice told me about?

Shane: The pro tennis player.

Alex: It’s amazing how something like that can turn your life around.

Shane: I know.

Then, Carmen showed up and took a seat. She was already in her PJ’s and her hair was slightly messed up. She started to eat. She never looked at Shane.

Carmen: So, sweetie how was your day?

Shane: It was…

Carmen: I was talking to ALEX.

Shane looked over at Alex like “OKAY!”

Alex: Umm, good SHANE actually just finished helping me study.

Alex was trying to get Carmen to thank Shane or talk to her, or look at her or SOMETHING!

Carmen: Good, great dinner by the way Alex.

Alex: Shane helped. Umm, I’m gonna go umm shoot some hoops.

Alex got up and left the table, going over to kiss her Madre on the top of the head. When she was gone, Carmen look over at Shane who sighed with relief! Finally!

Carmen: Do you hear that SHANE? I’m her mother, and after I file this divorce, she’ll be mine!

Carmen snickered and got up from the table. Shane stood there, horrified. She heard a basketball fall and bounce a couple times then converses hit the ground hard and she knew that Alex had heard.

Shane: Alex?

She ran after her. The teen was fast and as Shane had just gotten out the door, Alex was in the middle of the road, A deer in the headlights.

Shane: ALEX!

Shane tried to hurry and run to her as she heard tires screech, and Alex hit the ground, after being hit by a car. Shane hurried to the now unconscious teen. She knelt down at her side as the car reversed backwards, away from the scene. Alex’s body was covered in blood, and Shane pulled her onto her lap, holding the body near, starting to cry. Alex was limp in her arms. Carmen ran out to see her wife in the middle of the road, holding her daughter. She called the ambulance and hurried back out. Shane was hysterical, not letting go of the one person so dear to her. Then, it started to rain!
