Chapter 10- Bad Omen Turned Good

            A week had passed, so had Jess. She came, she went, went no more than an hour by Alex’s side. Shane, she never left. She never slept, never missed a beat. It was currently 6 AM, After the first couple days, Carmen would go home at night, sleep and bring Shane a change of clothes. Shane never changed. She was still in the same blood-covered clothes as she wore that night. Carmen really started to worry about her wife as she looked at her through the frame of the door. She was quiet, Shane didn’t notice her. She looked over the naturally tall, thin figure and somehow, she seemed even thinner. She hadn’t been eating, and from the way she sat, and the bags under her eyes, Carmen knew that She still hadn’t slept. Carmen walked in and came up behind Shane, gripping her shoulders and groping her neck. She then planted a kiss on her forehead.

Carmen: Hey

Shane: Hey.

Carmen: How is she?

Shane looked over at the pile of a body that was Alex.

Shane: The same.

She rubbed her eyes, then down her face. Shane got up and rubbed Alex’s mouth with a sponge, keeping her lips moist. She then lowered her lips to the teen’s icy forehead and planted a kiss. Carmen really was amazed at how much affection Shane was showing.

Carmen: Look, babe, I know you don’t want to leave her side, but you have to get out of here for a while.

Shane: No, I’m not gonna leave her side!

Carmen: Shane, lets be real here, you’ve been in this room for a week! Whenever I come, I see you either in this chair, or up pacing around. You’re gonna drive yourself crazy!

Shane: I can’t leave her side Carmen. That’s how Dana died, Alice left for five minutes, and when she came back, poof. I won’t let Alex have the same faith.

Carmen: She won’t. But you, sitting here mopping won’t help her either.

Shane sighed and shook her head. She knew Carmen was right. She still got the feeling she needed to stay put though.
