    Tina — Plan B; pt. 97

If I want her. Bette’s there, holding my hand, asking if I want her.

I’ve never wanted anything else. But has that ever made things possible, or easy enough?

“I’m afraid.” The words echo in my ears, although I know I’m whispering.

But I said it. It’s out there.

She remains, squeezing my hand a little tighter. “I know that, T. But that’s not what I asked. Do you want me? Do you want a chance at us?”

A chance? Chance to succeed. Chance to fail. Again.

Despite everything, despite my inner conflicts, I can feel the connection between us. The connection we’ve always had.

Words have failed me before, but I’ve experienced her. I know she desires me, and I’ve shown her as much. Are our physical needs enough? Or are those a true expression of our feelings?

“There was a time when I thought that I couldn’t live without you.” This next part brought back memories, memories that I still find painful. “I learned that I could.”

Bette’s hand starts to slip from mine, but I grab it tighter.

“Even though I can live without you, that doesn’t mean that I’d choose to. Now, I have that choice, and I make it freely.”

A streak from a single tear ran down Bette’s cheek.

“Yes, Bette. Yes, I want you. I want us.”

Her arms enveloped me, and I could feel a love stronger than my fears.

Somehow we were standing. And crying. And hugging.

Then, with the gentlest of touches, her lips blessed each of my eyelids, and found my lips.

With that, I found my home. The kiss wasn’t one of great lust, or great passion. The kiss was what it needed to be for that moment. A covenant. Bette and I sealed our agreement to each other, as we had once before.

She continued to hold me close, our hands entwined between us, over my heart. “You had me worried for a moment,” she admits, rubbing her nose against mine.

“Sometimes I suppose I’m too willing to second-guess my own happiness.”

This admission earns me another kiss. I think I like this concept, talking. It brings rewards.

“I’m not pretending there’s not more we have to deal with,” Bette stated. “But we’ve got a start.”

“Thank you.” It seemed like the oddest thing to say, but the most relevant.

    “For?”

Perhaps the most relevant, but also possibly the most confusing. “Coming back.”

“T, I won’t pretend that we don’t still have issues to work out”

That’s a fine understatement, Ms. Porter.

“but as long as we keep dealing with them together, that’s all I ask.”

Things were going so well, I hesitated to bring up a subject, but I did want to make sure that we really were in agreement. ‘Bette?”

    “Yes?”

“About your ring” This was hard. I cleared my throat, ready to start again.

But our moment was ended by the sound of wood breaking in the other room, followed by a dull thud.

After an instant of hesitation, both Bette and I headed for the door and rushed towards the kitchen, where the sound appeared to have come from.

Arriving there, I stopped cold and felt a shock in the pit of my stomach at the sight before me.

    1. You know that I just love your writing but what…what is the sound of wood breaking and thub; and what happened to Bette’s ring? What about Tina’s ring? Any chance of getting another today so we can have answers to those questions? Thanks for sharing!

    2. what who was jesse listening thro the wall you had us there in deep when the were talking and yeah tina finianlly had the right reaction with bette go girl we need more soon

    3. Okay I actually clapped when Tina FINALLY figured out what we’ve all been saying for many chapters now – TAKE HER BACK YOU LOVE HER!!! Okay, now that’s sorted what the heck with the thud in the kitchen??? What’s their girl up to now??? Well, classes officially finish for me on Tuesday and when they do I want more chapters of this for Christmas please! Thanking you =)

    4. I had to play catch-up from chapter 85. As I neared the end of each chapter, I was hoping there’d be another; then I get here and DAMN!! These cliffhangers are going to put me into an early grave.

    5. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!! I can’t not believe, that after that last chapter “00”, you leave us hanging. OK, so I’m really glad that Tina and Bette STARTED to talk, but wood breaking, like a wood window frame, a wood counter, a wood trivet, a wooden bowl, how many wood things are in the kitchen that could break? I mean I’ve wanted to hit Tina over the head with a “wood” rolling pin a couple of times, but I don’t think that it would actually break. And about the ring, I’m assuming you mean the one that Bette gave to her in the hotel room, but did we ever find out what happened to their original rings? I don’t think you ever mentioned them…or did I miss that? (As I’m obsessed with this story, I’m thinking you have never mentioned the original rings…) As always, thanks for the great update and I hope you post soon.

    6. It was Red. The chair broke that she was standing on to reach the Southern Comfort in the top cabinet! Guess that scrawny ‘other’ woman will have to come into the kitchen and save her. T-Cup will have to get out the first aid kit. Who’s going to do CPR? Hopefully, this was a funny spill and not something serious happening to Jess. Thanks!

    7. Finally Tina was able to reconcile her mixture of diparate emotions and trust her instincts. I like that you allowed them to understand the depth of their connection and love, but also to acknowledge that there are still issues that need to be addressed. A very tender and sweet moment but not saccharin. I can’t wait to find out what is going on in the kitchen…possibly something that has to do with Jess?

    8. I knew I shouldn’t have read this right now! I have to leave the house and now this will be on my mind to see what’s going on! Post soon so when I get bavk with packages in my hand I can click on and read what happened – I hope Jess is OK!

    9. When I was a little sprout, there was this show called “Cliffhangers”, where Michael Nouri played a vampire, and each week, the installment ended with, yes, you guessed it, a cliffhanger. Well, your story is right up there with that crazy show…each installment I’m thinking I get to relax awaiting the next but noooooooo, you wouldn’t let that happen. Incidentally, Michael Nouri was also in Flashdance, but I bought him more as a vampire than as Alex’s love interest.

    10. Liked the coming together and then the cliffhanger! I had a similar reaction to JKS about Michael Nouri. When I saw Flashdance, years ago, I thought that the JB character could do better than him. (And I certainly did not become a JB fan because of that film.)
