Till We Meet Again // A B/T Beginning Story Chapter 21

“I know what NOT to do—go out, have an affair, and break every single relationship along the way, ending up lonely and miserable and worse off than before!” Bette snapped at her.

“Why are you being so testy and judgmental? It is a difficult question to answer and you don’t know unless and until you are in the shoes of the protagonist,” Tina reasoned.

“That is not about to happen so I am spared, thank goodness,” Bette said, shaking her head.

“Did you not have a good time?” Tina stopped walking and looked at Bette sadly, hanging her head.

“Now, when did I say that?” Bette limped back to her.

“You have only been complaining non-stop ever since we exited the cinema!”

“That doesn’t mean I had a bad time! Tina…T, I can never have a bad time with you doing anything.”

    “Never?” Tina queried hopefully.

“Never…” Bette answered, nodding and pausing for effect, “say never.”

“Bette!” Tina swatted her shoulder playfully.

“Tina!” Bette scrunched up her face in mock pain.

“Uff…forget it. Did you like anything AT ALL about the movie?” They resumed walking.

“The actresses were gorgeous, so very sexy, especially the fashion magazine executive—almost worth the pain of sitting through the melodrama,” Bette replied, smiling to herself. Tina felt another round of sharp jealous pangs in her stomach and fought hard to overcome them.

“Really? I also thought the rich and handsome husband was really hot,” Tina replied, trying to get a reaction out of Bette.

“What? I guess he was not too bad,” Bette said uncertainly, swallowing the taste of her own bitter medicine.

“Everything is perfect now…” Bette fumbled for her phone as Tina’s eyebrows almost shot off her head with surprise. She had changed her ring tone from that annoying Simple Plan “Shut Up!” song to the Freezepop one they had skated to a few weeks back!

“Nothing can be perfect when you call me, Al,” Bette answered dryly. Tina put both hands on her forehead, trying to quell the rush of frustration immediately following the exhilaration.

“WHAT do you mean you are going to LA on assignment two days from now…wait that is OUR anniversary?” Bette barked into the phone taking Tina by surprise.

“No, No, you DO not get to use that as an excuse!” she continued, irritated, as Tina watched on.

    1. Mid-season break? As long as you don’t leave us with a cliffhanger…please… I see the interaction between Bette and Tina differently. As I read it, I wondered if Bette wasn’t trying to glean a little information about whether Tina would consider an affair. Coming off strongly opposed allowed Tina to offer a reminder to not be so judgmental. I LOL when Bette said that the main character complained all the time about his leg. That was so funny! I thought the chapter was so well written. Sorry it was a struggle and I can’t wait to see the next one!

    2. Bette and Alice’s relationship is speeding toward the cliff of doom. I just hope that it doesn’t blow up beyond repair of their old friendship. Can’t wait to geta chance to read the next chapter.

    3. I’m not sure about them having sex on each other’s anniversaries, but they should do it the next day then! They need to – for the sake of your readers! lolThanks so much for posting!

    4. excellent chapter the strain didn’t show. Interesting Bette and an all of her high morals we will see how that pan out when she is stuck in “those shoes”. Don’t tease us any more. Please

    5. Great chapter!!! As for the opera, re-create the Alice/Bette scene from the show…heheheh. Seriously, B&T need to admit to themselves and each other what they feel, then go find a hotel ;).

    6. Wonderful update even if I don’t necessarily understand why they seem oblivious to each other’s love. What is a mid-season break? BnTPorter said it best. Thanks for posting. PPS
