Till We Meet Again // A B/T Beginning Story Chapter 21
“That was OFFICIALLY the worst movie ever. Remind me never to let you pick the movies we watch together,” Bette grumbled walking out of the cinema.
“Bette! It is the highest grossing Indian movie in overseas markets to date, critically acclaimed too, and I loved it! It was so romantic, so heart-felt and tender, so… ” Tina started blissfully.
“…So very painful, annoying and gyrating on the nerves,” Bette finished with a growl. “I feel like I just sat through an expensive, unnecessarily long marriage counseling session that told me to have an affair. And goodness, the lead character, he complained about everything from the weather to his extraordinarily stunning and beautiful wife to how much his leg hurt all the fucking time and what a potty mouth. How could she want that loser over her kind, gentle and loving husband?” Bette shuddered in wonder.
Tina just raised an eyebrow at Bette.
“What? Oh please, do not look at me that way. I am not THAT bad! Fuck, it is cold and my fucking knee is killing me!” Bette pulled her coat tightly around her.
Tina stifled a giggle.
“You don’t think that love finds a way, Bette? It is such a beautiful thought.” They walked along a familiar path to the Times Square station.
“T…that overly-sentimental and misleading thought makes no sense when put to test. Love cannot find a way even when given a roadmap, with a compass pointing in the right direction. You and your partner—together—have to find a way, not love. Left on its own, love finds a way to divorce. Besides, they were having an extra-marital affair for crying out loud, one that was being GLORIFIED —how can you possibly be so blasé and justify that by saying it was romantic or had anything to do with love?! True love—yes, the fairytale kind in good books and bad movies—does not leave broken relationships in its wake.”
“Bette! They were destined to get together from the very moment they met, with or without the affair. Don’t you get it? I am not justifying the extra-marital relationship but what do you do when you are caught up in a marriage that is all wrong for you and then you meet your soul mate?”

Mid-season break? As long as you don’t leave us with a cliffhanger…please… I see the interaction between Bette and Tina differently. As I read it, I wondered if Bette wasn’t trying to glean a little information about whether Tina would consider an affair. Coming off strongly opposed allowed Tina to offer a reminder to not be so judgmental. I LOL when Bette said that the main character complained all the time about his leg. That was so funny! I thought the chapter was so well written. Sorry it was a struggle and I can’t wait to see the next one!
Bette and Alice’s relationship is speeding toward the cliff of doom. I just hope that it doesn’t blow up beyond repair of their old friendship. Can’t wait to geta chance to read the next chapter.
eek!things with bette and alice just keep getting worse!…but hey..cant wait to see more b&t stuff, looking forward to the rest. =]
Mid-season break? That is surely not a cure for my OCD. Difficult as this chapter may have been to write, you did a wonderful job.
Well I would say lets end Bette’s misery on opera night…then have a mid season break…
I’m not sure about them having sex on each other’s anniversaries, but they should do it the next day then! They need to – for the sake of your readers! lolThanks so much for posting!
excellent chapter the strain didn’t show. Interesting Bette and an all of her high morals we will see how that pan out when she is stuck in “those shoes”. Don’t tease us any more. Please
Great chapter!!! As for the opera, re-create the Alice/Bette scene from the show…heheheh. Seriously, B&T need to admit to themselves and each other what they feel, then go find a hotel ;).
Wonderful update even if I don’t necessarily understand why they seem oblivious to each other’s love. What is a mid-season break? BnTPorter said it best. Thanks for posting. PPS
Just put Alice and Eric together..that would really tick Helena off. Then she would be off of Bette’s back as well. pps
Another great chapter. Love where the story is going. Looking forward to more.
That was good and can’t wait to see more!
How dare Bettete get angry at Alice, when she is cheating with Tina. Come on, Bette grow up. Poor Alice.
