The Triangle of Love – Chapter 10
Alice: Dana?
Dana: Yeah?
Alice: Look at me.
Dana looked up at Alice, but would not meet her eyes. She felt awkward already and she didn’t want to make it worse. Alice just accepted that Dana wouldn’t look at her properly, and began her confession.
Alice: I have something to tell you.
Dana: What is it?
Alice: Dana, I’m sorry for the way I acted. It was so hard for me to hear you say what you said, but why would you say it if it wasn’t true? I know you think this is your fault, but it’s not. It’s mine. I should have acted like an adult, but instead I turned to alcohol and look where that got me. This whole thing made me realise I love you too. I always have and I don’t know why I couldn’t accept it when you said you love me. Well, I do but I don’t know how to explain it. Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is that I need you. You’re my very best friend and I’m sorry for everything, including pretending to not remember you. I was just trying to forget what you said. Can you forgive me?
Dana: Yeah, sure. I’m sorry too.
It hadn’t quite sunk in what Alice had said. It was like Dana was on a 2 minute delay. Suddenly, her eyes went wide, the most enormous smile on her face that Alice had ever seen and she was now giving Alice that eye contact she wanted. She jumped up and hugged Alice, forgetting about her injuries.
Dana: OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!
Alice: DANA! GET OFF ME! OWWW! GET THE FUCK OFF ME!
Dana heard Alice screaming, and remembered her injuries. She jumped back quickly and dropped into her chair, leaning forward to take Alice’s hand.
Dana: I’m sorry; I was just so excited you remembered me. Did I hurt you?
Alice: What the fuck do you think? Do that again and I’ll have you done for assault.
Dana knew she was just kidding with the assault part. Then suddenly she remembered something else Alice had said in her confession.
Dana: Wait a minute; did you say you love me?
Alice: I did.
Dana: When did that happen?
Alice: Since the day we met.
Dana: You’ve known all that time? Why didn’t you tell me?
Alice: The right time never came around, and when you said it to me, I couldn’t believe it. All my dreams had come true and I thought someone like me could never be happy.
Dana: Someone like you? What’s that supposed to mean?
Alice: I’ll tell you another day. I’m a little tired and i don’t really want to talk about it.
Dana: Okay. You know, when Shane told me you’d been in an accident, I thought I’d lost you. I couldn’t handle that Alice.
Alice: I know. I need you too.
Alice moved her hand a little that Dana was holding, so that their fingers entwined. It was only a small connection, but they both felt it. The butterflies, the excitement and the love they held for each other, all in that one small touch. And even though they weren’t a couple, they both felt it was right. They sat like that, just looking at one another, holding hands and rubbing their thumbs across each other’s knuckles in the most intimate way, until Alice suddenly jumped and began to hyperventilate. She was obviously going into shock and Dana didn’t have a clue what to do. She pressed the emergency button at the side of the Alice’s bed. She just managed to hear what Alice said next.
Alice: Dana, I can’t feel my legs!

That Alice, very sneaky, she deceived me with her pretended amnesia; now we’ll see what would happen with her legs; nice chapter; thanks, pps.
