The Sound Track of Our Lives

                “No,” Shane stated firmly.

“No! No! Shane! I can’t do this alone!”

“I will not get involved with this and you shouldn’t either. You have caused enough trouble. Cut your losses and walk away.”

“Shane! I was just trying to get Bette and Tina back together!”

“By setting Tina up with the only person Bette can talk to? Sounds like a solid plan.”

“What the ***** is your problem?”

“If Bette and Tina are going to work this out, they have to work it out. You can not do it for them.”

“I am hanging up now. Just because you can’t love doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t deserve to have it!”

Charlotte stood in the open door unsure if she should interrupt. Before she could decide the blonde woman looked up.

                “I thought someone was there.”

“Sorry to interrupt. I should have left. I just caught up in watching you. I always loved the way you bite you lip when you concentrate.”

Georgia sighs. She wishes that they weren’t so different. There was no doubt in her mind that she still loved Charlotte. How could she not? They had been a couple for eleven years. Those years just don’t fade away. Georgia noticed the suit Charlotte was wearing, her lucky suit.  Georgia never had the heart to tell her lover that the suit wasn’t lucky. The suit worked because she took everyone’s breath away when she wore it. Except for the laugh lines around her eyes, Charlotte had not aged at all in all those years. These random thought assaulted Georgia‘s mind making it impossible for her to think clearly. Why does this woman still have this effect on her after 2 years apart? “I am sorry about the other night. That was uncalled for. I hope I didn’t upset your date.”

“She is a friend, both of them are friends.”

“Oh,” Georgia was secretly relieved. She silently reprimanded herself. She had no right to wish that Charlotte didn’t move on. Charlotte deserved happiness. She was a good woman that had gone through a lot the last few years. Georgia hated to think that she had caused some of the pain that rested in the beautiful green eyes. “You know that I never wanted to believe that I wasn’t good enough for you. I am sorry that I let my vanity get in the way of the truth.”

    1. That was great. I loved the way you went from humor to heartbreak. Maybe Alice will get so scared by this prank that Tina and Charlotte are pulling on her that she will quit interfering in other peoples business. WHAT AM I CRAZY–THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! Have a great day.
