The Long and Winding Road chp 50

“We’ve been together ten years and she has swum in the sea so many times”

    “Well Miss “

“Tina — call me Tina “

“Well Tina — it looks like a jellyfish mark — very possible around here. Most people are fine with them. Maybe “

    “Craig – quick “

Tina looked at Bette as to her heart stopping horror she began to struggle to breathe. The lifeguard propped Bette’s head back as the sirens sounded and worked to free her airway.

Tina couldn’t calm down and certainly could not pacify Danny. All she could

see was the woman she loved — Dan’s mommy slipping away. Someone took hold of her shoulders – she fought free of the hold.

“Bette – please — oh God please Bette “ she pleaded.

Two ambulance women ran through the small crowd that had gathered. Tina was somehow pulled away – she reached her mobile phone and hit the speed dial for the first number she found

    “Hey there Tina “

“Alice – get everyone here — its Bette — she isn’t breathing – something happened when she was swimming – I am so afraid “

“WHAT — take it easy — what am I saying – take a couple of deep breaths Tina — are you still out at Emerald Bay ? “

“Yes – please hurry – I am so scared and Dan “

“Yes — I can hear him Tina — leave it to me – we’ll be with you as quickly as we can. Peggy is in town and I think she’s got her own chopper — I’ll ring you as soon as we are on the way “

As Tina hung up she saws Bette being helped onto a stretcher she pushed through the crowd again.

“I’m her partner and this is her son — where are you taking her ? “

“Hospital about ten minutes away – you can come in the ambulance with us”

As Tina hugged Danny as she followed Bette off the beach – they passed their picnic and gear. All Tina wanted was Dan’s bag of stuff – nappies and a bottle — everything else could be replaced.

    1. Ally you are ever the genius with all your stories – you have the creative ability to keep the drama high as well as the love between B&T always present; as only a truly gifted writer can. Love how you portray the depth of the connection between Bette, Tina and Daniel. Can’t wait to read as you incorporate the twins into their lives. Tina’s comment about Danny’s every centimeter being Porter cracked me up…but can you blame Danny???…who wouldn’t turn away hospital food when they’ve been getting Bette ‘food’ all along? LOL!! Thank you Ally…can’t wait for more!

    2. Hey! If you’re going to have these yankees measure stuff in metric, can you at least spell meter American-style? Yes, I tried to warn them about the revenge of the sea life and look what happened. Is this turning into an aquatic variation on “The Birds”? I guess they should just be glad Bette got it on the thighs and not between them.

    3. I held my breath for almost the whole day, but anyhow thanks for posting so soon. Great chapter, looking back into the past….just great, thanks Ally.

    4. Gosh, they really need to get to Nodramaland as soon as possible!!! ;) Loved it though. And the last line is great! But a jellyfish?…LMFAO! But any of your crazy ideas I love! Thanks for this chap, and so excited about the next L wing and L&P’s posts…

    5. Ally, you can be as deeply wounded as you want, because we both know who is telling the truth here. Can you guess who is raising her hand? If you try to deny it I will just have to give you another smack upside your head!! LOL I absolutely loved this chapter and I had faith in you that you would not really harm Bette. I hope you are feeling better soon and not just to get an NC-17 posted from you either.

    6. Long live the memories of Steve Irwin! I was and always will be a big fan! Thanks for making the reference. I’m glad Bette is ok after her wrestling match with the jelly!

    7. Glad that Bette is going to be okay. I do hope that at the end that is coming soon that we will get to see Tina and her girls and see who the father is of their baby girls.

    8. in the chapter before this you scare me a lot! but now it was just a jellyfish and Bette is ok! the gang are wonderful friends! then the next post will be a NC17? yeaaa!

    9. Great one AllyE, at least you pulled her bacon out of the fire, eh, water and let her live. Can we just have some peace, quiet and lots of loving with our girls for a while, pretty please.?

    10. Okay, your momentarily off the hook by having Bette be okay. But come on, can’t our poor girls just have a calm and peaceful life for once. I don’t know any couple or one that’s had that much drama in their life.Hey did anyone see “Justice” lastnight and get a glimpse of our missing Dana?

    11. I’m glad Bette’s ok. You’re right about Australia they’ve got the most poisonous everything spiders, snakes, scorpions, jellyfish etc also great white sharks, crocs etc lol I still like going there though.

    12. I am soooooooo happy that Bette is okay, but I am surprised that no one called Kit when Bette was taken to hospital. Now we have to see how Bette response to finding out that she can not breast feed for a while :o)

    13. Hey Ally, More drama than you can throw a stick at… The whole chapter was brilliant; Tina’s panic, Danny’s upset, the gang’s arrival and attempt to cheer Tee up; Tina’s chat and singing to finally Bette’s awakening. Fabulous fan fiction. Thank you so much for not making this a tragedy merely an unpleasant Jelly fish tale. Your Loyal Fan. PS – Loved the sting ray reference. Poor Steve.
