    Chapter 245

    Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter

     

    We flew back to Washington this morning after a really good couple of weeks of snow and sex and family. The best parts have obviously been enjoying Ella’s first Christmas – and being able to share it with both of our families. Its great that Bette is now getting on so much better than she has for a while with her father and Kit and Leigh. Bette has really been regenerated by her time in Virginia – it was very good for her to spent Christmas Day alone with Ella and I – that really helped her – she changed from that day onwards – like she had made peace with herself over the mess of her real mother and the whole abandonment issue.

     

    Of course nothing is ever perfect – we are all worried about Shane and Carmen – neither showed up to the New Years Eve party. Again Carmen is not answering my calls – she gets to escape me until Monday when we are going to have a frank conversation in my office. Bette is worried about Shane and when most of the Senior Staff were at the house – the likes of CJ, Alana, Alice and JJ all got together and they chewed it over for a long time. Bette came out of the meeting with the views of her staff very clearly articulated – namely – they all want to help her as a person but she is not to be allowed back into the West Wing when she is liable to do herself more harm than good. Bette is torn – and I hate to see that.

     

     

    We are in the living room of our apartment. Bette is sitting on the sofa working her way through some memos and briefings. We only have the rest of today and the weekend to spend as a family before we are both swept up into the crazy world that we both inhabit. I am sitting facing her – I have been trying to catch up on work of my own but my attention has been claimed by one Ella Elizabeth who is not a happy little person. At a few days short of her four month old birthday – our daughter is teething. Something that Bette has taken as a badge of honour – its like – hey – look how advanced my daughter is – she’s teething early.

    1. I hope Shane is coming around and get help. Bed must reach through harder with Shane. Great update, was missing my favorite story. Please post really soon another chapter. Please!!!

    2. Well Carmen, way to kick Shane when she’s down, eh? After all, who cares what traumatic things she is going through, physically and emotionally, after being kidnapped and shot, heavy stuff, if she is pissing you off, right? Better to run off and start sleeping with someone else right away and make sure she knows it..cos it’s all about you I guess, huh Carmen? Ever so nice to you to LET her see her baby, but what about the responsibility of a partner to be there and love and care and help when her wife is sick? I hope Bette really steps up and is there for her, to care for her and help her, so that she gets help, and isn’t all alone. She deserves at least that for what happened to her in the service of the President, and much more, because they supposedly care about her.

    3. AllyE, what a great chapter and only three pgs, it read like many more. Poor Shane, she really is behind the eight ball and denying her problems. She really does need professional help and quickly. AllyE, you are doing a great job with all your stories, as always. keep up the good work. Post when you can.

    4. Wow, Shane has really gone off the deep end hasn’t she? Has she been brainwashed or is it just the addiction to her pain killers? I hope everything turns out ok. PS

    6. shane is swimming deep ain’t she. this must be really tough for carmen… i think if shane cleaned up carmen would go back to shane. there is only so much a person can take… shane is really losing it is this from the kidnapping or just stressed out? :)PPS okay what about an update for love and pride?

    10. “fanny on with Shane any more”? What? What do you mean? Shane barely has a fanny. Are they going to get her padded pants to give her a fanny? BTW, why HAVE NC-17s become such a rare event? We all like them, Bette, Tina, the readers, bring us more.
