Chapter 244
Narration of President Bette Kennard Porter
Ella not sleeping the night before has taken its toll on all three of us. Tina is tired, I am shattered and Ella is just plain grumpy and when she is like this she just makes everyone know about it. Just after lunch she starts crying again – I go upstairs again. She is screaming – I pick her up -she is wet. So I start cleaning her up and chatting to her hoping to soothe her.
“My niece does not sound a happy baby “ Kit walks in “ I brought your coffee upstairs”
“Thanks for the coffee – it’s the only thing keeping me awake. She isn’t – she was awake all last night screaming the place down. I think she only stopped because she had worn herself out “
“Has she got a temperature ?”
“No – she is fine in every other way “
“There could be any number of reasons – you don’t seem to be worrying “
“I might if she keeps screaming all night. Tina isn’t worried “
Kit sits down “ Do you want me to try ?”
“If you don’t mind “
I hand Ella to Kit and she regards her for a few seconds. She is still crying
“She needs changing “
“I know – I was just going to do that “
“Why don’t you give her a little bath – splash around with her for a while “
“That might work – she loves bath time “
“Go and fill her bath and bring it in here and I will see if I can calm her “
I obey – hurrying to get her baby bath and fill it with water that is just the right temperature. I bring it back into the nursery and Kit is wiping her down
“Have either of you considered that she might be teething ?”
“Teething – you are kidding – she’s not four months old yet “
“Well some babies teethe earlier than others. It might be worth keeping an eye on her gums. David teethed early – maybe she’s inherited some of his traits “

YEAH, a new chapter to this story. I LOVED that Bette and Kit are back on speaking terms and haveing VERY GOOD and productive conversations. I totally agree with Kit, it’s time to bang some heads together and try and resolve this problem between Shane and Carmen. I just hope that the othe woman is NOT the previously mentioned Jodie (the jerk).
