    The Island – Chapter 29

Dana woke feeling better than she had the night before.  A good night’s sleep helped.  What helped more was waking up spooning Alice.  Even from her position she could tell Alice would wake up with her adorable bed head.  She did her usual morning routine of giving Alice a soft kiss on the back of her neck.

“Morning, baby.”  Alice said sleepily as she turned around.  Both women were early risers and enjoyed the quiet moments in the bed first thing.  Things could get pretty amorous some mornings.  However, this morning was all about the togetherness before they had to leave on their trip.

“Did you sleep well?”  Alice asked as she reached out to push some of Dana’s hair back behind her ear.

“I always sleep well when I’m with you.”  Dana responded with a small smile.  She sighed.  “I feel better this morning.  Things don’t seem quite as overwhelming.”

Dana was rewarded with a warm smile from her girlfriend.  “Good.  I know it is going to be a rough couple of days, but, I’ll be right there with you.  We’ll get through it.”

The two women cuddled together for a while until Alice’s stomach started to make noises.

“And that is why we don’t need an alarm clock…”  Dana joked as she kissed Alice’s stomach before rolling over to get to the phone and call down for breakfast.

The two women had breakfast, showered and dressed.  Alice could see that Dana was getting more stressed as they got closer to the point where the day would take a turn from normalcy.

“Don’t worry, Dana.  Everything is under control.  I’ll take care of you.  OK?”

Dana smiled and nodded.  It amazed her sometimes how well Alice could read her.  She decided to just take a deep breath and relax.  The next few days would be stressful enough without her adding to it with the logistic things that Alice had in hand.

They made their way to the airfield in Alice’s souped-up golf cart.  This was Dana’s first trip in the thing and might be her last unless Alice let her drive next time.  Alice seemed to take a perverse joy in speeding up on every corner.  Dana was relieved when they made it to their destination.  By the time she pried her white knuckles off the safety bar, someone had already come to take the luggage and bring it on board.

    1. Hey you’re very welcome. I can’t believe I missed this! I read this before work today and I was in a foul mood beforehand and this cheered me right up :) I love how it’s something different and yet still has our girls. I also love how filthy stinkin’ rich Alice is hehe, I agree with Howie! :D Keep posting and we’ll all keep reading. x

    2. I loved the chapter. I am so proud of you Goose. I am glad to hear about your brother. My brother just pointed at me and said I knew it. This story is great. I love it it’s amazing. You rock my socks

    3. So you called a 24 hour delay, a slowdown in postings? Plz, you are one of the most consistent writer in the past months. Not to give you any pressure, seriously, I can always count on your weekly update and am most grateful. As for this chapter, A driving the golf cart was very funny. Excellent writing on the plane ride. OK, I have to get used to A being all presidential. lol. A queen size bed on the plane sounds heavenly. The guard detail was equally impressive. Very funny that the pilot told A to fasten her seatbelt. I could picture her and Shane goofing around on the plane when grandpa was still alive. It so true that when you are with someone who you truly love, it doesn’t matter where you are, the place turns magical. In this case, D for the first time appreciated the home town scenery. Excellent that Howie was immediately drawn to A. Very cute scene. Also that was an perfect execution of Sharon’s comment on D being gay. Thank you for letting A joined D on this trip. Love seeing all her support for D. Great chapter again. Thank you very much. Lastly, MaGoose, I am very proud of your personal achievement and hope that your brother will get to read your great stories some day.
