    The Gathering 01.84 – Life’s Folly pt 3

“I think that is a very bad idea.”  Jayden said, taking the bottle of wine, seeing that it was empty and turning it upside down to catch the last drop on her extended tongue.  A vamped shiver ran up and down Lara at the sight.  Alice turned and looked at Jayden.

“Tell her, hey you know what you are human, at least that’s what Rob Zombie said once.  So just tell her, cuz you know if you hide it, she’s going to find out anyway.  THEN you are going to have the whole break up drama because you lied.  At least if she gives you the boot this time, you were honest about it.”  Lara cocked her head to the left, thinking that was a skewed way of looking at it.

“I’m gonna hafta tell Dana the truth.”  Alice said, and from the door Dana asked.

                “Tell me what?”

Love (Such A Many Splintered Thing)

If there is this love that no one ever sees
The stories told that just couldn’t be real
How could the heart even begin to believe in
Reflections of sad withered truths we feel

View of lives, simply like an open book
See tales of those sorrowed lonely nights
Just open it up now, and then take a look
Then close your eyes, hold yourself tight

They talk of it as bliss, so wonderful
A thing of spender, such a joy to bring
Have they ever known of it’s darker side
This love, such a many splintered thing

Lies to say that black is really white
The world so full of it’s evil means
A moon that’s just a blazing sun at night
To blind the eyes and steal your dreams

There’s no escape and so little choice
Nothing else to hear and unable to breathe
Forever lost in the sound of love’s voice
A sad obsession that consumes, you’ll see

They talk of it as bliss, so wonderful
A thing of spender, such a joy to bring
Have they ever known of it’s darker side
This love, such a many splintered thing

See the scars of scorn worn upon their faces
From love, the vicious spinning carousel
Their hard falls, the loss of social grace
It turns so fast, they try to ride it well

A ride so very sweet, never ever will it end
The arm that envelops, the hand that holds
Lie to yourself in the forever lasting sunset
So comes the sober morning, the caress is sold

They talk of it as bliss, so wonderful

A thing of spender, such a joy to bring
Have they ever known of it’s darker side
This love, such a many splintered thing
    Rage
    Lusting
    Debauchery

    Sorrow
    Guilt
    Futility

    Wanting
    Needing
    Empathy

    Loss
    Accept
    Depravity

Take a look behind the eyes, just what do you see
Lost dreams deep within, faces that beckon thee
Do you hear their cries, so very plain to know
Of the shadowed pasts that can’t ever be let go

Hear the wish for truths clear as black and white
As the tears of velvet lies corrupt their sight
For the rest of their lives, wherever they go
They wear the scars of scorn deep upon the soul

They talk of it as bliss, so wonderful
A thing of spender, such a joy to bring
Have they ever known of it’s darker side
This love, such a many splintered thing
