Alice: “Which part, being a ***** or allowing someone else to know it?”

Dana: “Shut up Al, you know what I mean.”

Shane: “Easy there girls, I have an idea, why don’t we get together this weekend and celebrate before you leave?”

Bette: “That’s a great idea, how about my place Friday night? We’ll BBQ, sound good?”

Shane: “Great idea Bette. Is this afriends only party or”

Bette: “Yes, you can bring a date Shane.”

Alice turns to Bette with a mischievous look on her face and changes the subject

Alice: “Well Ms. Porter speaking of celebrations, you and Gloria must have had one ***** of an after party eh Bette?”

Shane: “You don’t miss a beat do you Al.”

Bette: “Well if you must know.”

Alice was taken aback, after all the Great Bette Porter never kisses and tells

Bette: “I thinkI’m in love.”

Alice: “WHAT!!! With Gloria???” She says incredulously.

Dana: “Awww that’s great Bette.”

Alice: “You fell in love with her last night??? What the ***** did she do right last night? Boy, she’s better than I thought.”

Shane didn’t say a word. She sat back listening to Alice and watching Bette’s face. Alice could usually get to her. But not this time, something was different, Shane could feel it. The story was not adding up though, She had a feeling that Gloria was not part of the equation.

Bette: “Are you finished Al?”

Alice: “Go for it Don Juan.”

Bette: “First of all, I went homealone last night. Second of all, Gloria decided to take a break and see other people. Last, this one is different. I saw my future flash before my eyes. I felt the hands of fate pulling me towards her. She’s the oneI know it.”

Simultaneously all three women’s jaws dropped. They were understandably speechless. This was Bette Porter. She didn’t fall in love, have a relationship,talk about fate???

Alice was convinced that she wasn’t well and Dana immediately panicked at the thought of catching something right before her video shoot. It was Shane however, who thought far enough ahead to at least ask who this mystery woman was.

Bette: “Her name is Tina Kennard. I met her last night at the opening.”
