The Art of Chemistry (2)
“Probably not,” Tasha agreed, finishing off her sandwich.
Tina smiled as she looked down to her lunch, daydreaming about the beautiful woman on the beach.

“Why on earth was this an emergency?”
Bette stood in disbelief, holding her purse up on her shoulder. There before her sat Alice with three meals at the table of a café.
“I should have known …”
“No, don’t leave!” Alice insisted, gesturing to the table. “I got your favorite spring salad. At least stay to eat it …”
“Alice – I left work. You said it was an emergency.”
“Well, it is,” Alice whined, pouting and bringing her hands together before Bette finally rolled her eyes and sat at the table. “Bette, I really really need to tell you something.”
Bette leaned onto the table, looking at Alice over the top of her sunglasses.
“Tina was really weird at the beach.”
“You called me here from work to tell me something I already knew?”
“No no, I just mean that she’s usually hilarious or whatever. I just think that we really need to fix her up, okay? And you’re my only friend who’s sort of at her level, you know? You’re both super femme and upper class, and-”
“Why is this necessary, Alice?” Bette sighed, bringing her purse into her lap.
As Alice attempted to explain that she felt Bette might be the best help, one of the large doors to the café opened, and there stood the blond from the beach. She timidly stepped in and looked around, her soft blond hair bouncing over her shoulders as she scanned the place. Bette swallowed hard, but tried to deny the woman’s attractive qualities. Those legs.
“Are you even listening to me?!” Alice screeched, finally pulling Bette’s attention as the brunette took off her sunglasses and folded them in her hands quietly. “What’s wrong with you?”
It took longer than she thought it would, but Tina finally stepped up to the table. Bette averted her eyes to the salad, waiting for the blond to speak and re-introduce herself.
“… Tina.” She had meant to introduce herself again, but it came out wrong.
“No, that’s Bette. You’re Tina,” Alice teased.
“I mean … hi.”
Bette finally picked her head up and smiled at Tina, confused with her own thoughts. She extended her hand and smiled, “Hi. It’s nice to meet you again.”

Hi GR thanks for posting! The way you describe the situations is so vivid! It’s so cute and hilarious. In the other hand, I can imagine how torturing it is to regret on your own awkwardness while you actually would like to be yourself and presenting the best of you in front of somebody! …Looking forward to read more! PPVS :-) and … Thanks for rivergirl2121 for sharing it with GR (and us) and giving her inspiration to write this story :-)
Just caught up. This is just wonderful thank you love it.
neither woman is very artful at the moment. I hope one of them gets it together soon.
This is a very interesting start and I really like it, even more so in that it is based on a true story.
