Stoners of LA (aka Too Much Time on My Hands part 3)
“I’m sorry.” Bette apologized quickly. “Thank you for having us out here. It was a really nice drive in actually.” They walked across the threshold, both silently agreeing not to laugh or otherwise mock the wooden cat blocking their way.
“Bette and Helena on a road trip.” Tina laughed. “I’d like to see that.”
“She navigates surprisingly well.” Bette said. “Though, I think its still a bit of a shock to the system, not having a private jet handy.” Her smile was kind, though her eyes were mischievous. She leaned forward, giving Tina a quick peck on the cheek. And for a moment, just a moment, Bette felt that familiar stab of sadness. This transition, from partners to friends, had been so quick. Shouldn’t it have taken longer?
And yet here they were. Tina and Bette, standing face to face, without a bitter emotion between them—life took it’s strange turns.
“I heard that.” Helena called from just inside the door. “That thing about the jet. And I’ll have you know,” She peaked around the corner with eyes narrowed, “I am a very independent person, and I do not need Mummy’s money to navigate a bloody three hour drive.”
“yes, yes, ok, I hear that.” Bette walked casually into the kitchen. She stopped herself from judging her surroundings again. Fine, so some people thought that pictures of babies in bowls of flowers could be considered art. The quilts and woodwork in Tina’s aunt’s house were marvelous. Bette suspended her big city arrogance at the door when she spotted a particularly intricate carved table.
Just then, a tall, attractive woman, came down the stairs. Dark hair hung to her shoulders. She wore a tight black tshirt and blue jeans. Broad shoulders and a thin but muscular build, had Bette thinking that she was as dedicated to yoga as most of LA.
“Bette, Helena, this is Amelia.” Tina’s smile shone brightly in the already sun drenched kitchen. Helena, ever the diplomat, stepped forward first, greeting Amelia with an outstretched hand.
“so…” The four women stood around, wondering if it should be awkward, feeling that it was, but then wondering if it wouldn’t be awkward if they hadn’t all thought that it should be in the first place. “Beer?” Bette suggested cheerfully.

Hey Hel this is one different story and it is very good and hope to read more of this!!
What an intriguing setup. Amelia seems genuinely nice, so I hope Tina doesn’t make her suffer too much as she tries to figure out what she really wants. No such worries on the Belena front. I love the lack of angst and simple pleasure in each other’s company that defines their relationship. PS: IC’s excuse for no Belena on the show is total crap, but that’s IC for you!
Seems to me I said “Boo!” to somebody recently, but it was in the spooky, scary sense, not the “I hate your guts you stupid piece of shit” sense. You know helebette, despite all the goofy fun you offer us in your stories I also enjoy your sharp insights into character and relationships. That was nice of Tina to choose not to be a complete shit towards Amelia, pity it was something of a struggle for her. I think I like Amelia better. And Amelia is a midpoint in looks between Bette and Helena? Well who better to complete the triangle? Besides Tina needs the free time to make decency her habitual response.
Thank you for this. It’s funny though, I think Belena is hot, very hot, but only really when there is no tina in the “story”. I get too caught up in the baggage that is Tibette to enjoy the Belena. I think it’s that soul mate forever thought that it might actually exist that I hang onto the Tibette notion. And how could a Belena work in that scenario. Sorry I ramble, it’s nice to think everyone could be happy…tks for the post!!
I am so glad you are back with another chapter!!! I like Amelia, she seems to be cool, hopefully she stays that way.. So… what is the prize?????? heheh i’m just curious!!! PPS!
Hey babe! I got up ridiculously early so thought I’d read this :-D and I like! Ditto to what funnyone said, whilst I love your off the wall stories like PT and WIL I also really enjoy when you delve into the complexities of people, you know you say you can’t write Tina but that’s just an excuse I think *wink* … anyway, love the Amelia character, she sounds dashing ;) so I’m glad Tina wasn’t a total shit to her, keep this one going babe, pretty please xx
Lovin that you are back with this story PPS.
