    Chapter 37

Bette’s car was dropping Ellie and Tina off at Tina’s and then Bette would be going over to Kit’s for a small dinner with just the two of them.  They’d be seeing the girls tomorrow when they all would be coming to Kit’s for Christmas dinner.  Bette knew that it was important for her to spend the time with her sister and her friends, but all Bette wanted to do was go home and sleep through the rest of the night and the next day.  Tina and Bette planned on celebrating Christmas the day after Christmas but the thought of leaving her was literally making her ill.  Bette was lost in her thoughts when she heard Tina say.

    “Babe, we’re here.”

“Oh, um okay.  Ellie, thank you for all your help.  Oh and I hope you don’t mind but your Mom has a Christmas gift for you from me.  So…um, Merry Christmas…Okay.”

Ellie leaned into Bette and gave her a brief hug before she left the car.

    “Thanks, Bette.  Merry Christmas.”

    Tina turned toward Bette.

    “Babe, aren’t you coming in?”

“Tina, we agreed that you and I would spend the day after Christmas together.  If I go in I really don’t know if I’ll be able to leave.”

Tina grabbed Bette’s hand and pulled her out of the car.

“Nonsense, you at least have to come in and let me feed you and give you a proper kiss.  C’mon.”

Bette couldn’t help but smile at Tina.  She took her hand and followed.

They walked in the door and Bette almost jumped out of her skin when she heard.

    “Surprise.  Merry Christmas.”

Bette was stunned and she blurted out.  “What the hell is all this?”

Everyone laughed.  Tina wrapped her arms around Bette and gave her a deep kiss.

“Merry Christmas Babe.  You didn’t really think I was going to spend Christmas without you, did you?”

Bette leaned in and captured Tina’s lips.  She pulled her close and deepened the kiss

“Ahem, well let’s not get too carried away, the kid is here.”

Bette released Tina’s lips and looked around.  “Shit Tina everyone is here.  How did you manage this?”

Tina smiled up at Bette.  “Not as hard as you’d think when you promise food, drink and a driver.”

    1. Great update. You make it sweet without making it corny. I love the interaction between all the characters. Besides, you have managed to make a good guy out of Joe and not some kind of asshole who is so easy to hate. I think it makes Tina’s choici to leave hime even more significant. Thank you so much.

    2. Christmas brings family together. Your story touched on all the parts that I love about Christmas. The appreciation and love we have for family that translates into doing thoughtful actions and can also be trying to really see the other persons point of veiw and making the best of difficult situations. I enjoyed how you included a little insight into each character’s emotion and expectation of Christmas.

    3. How I love this story. You have shown all the aspects of falling in love when there are others involved and how to act so as not to cause others pain and hurt children and other family members. If not handled right this coupling could have been disastrous for everyone. It’s so good that Joe did not feel that he had become the wronged spouse and turn their daughter against her mother. Tina is the most absolutely stunningly beautiful awesome woman going. I need to stop now because I’m getting carried away but, you get the point. Thanks for showing us what love truly means.

    4. I really like how it all came together, and I’m glad that everyone’s getting along. Bette’s likely having her best Christmas ever. Thanks for another great chapter. Cheers, DnA! :)

    5. Sounded like a great party. I know something like that had to be a little ackward for them as well. But at least they are all civil with one another and really desire to be friends. Most relationships don’t end up that way. Too bad. I know with my ex it took years before I could stand to look at the man, let alone the woman he left me to marry a month later. I’m glad for Bette and Tina in this story that it is working out so well. This is the way things would go if people were mature and loving.

    6. Hello D&A, Many thanks for another fine and sweet chappie. What makes this latest one so perfect is how family and friends make the party and time of year so special. There is a true sense of belonging in this group. It was wonderful that Joe and his date were welcomed as warmly as the rest of his family. Good to see Joe’s brother and his family so accepting of Bette. The Christmas traditions were amazing. Kit singing; the opening of one special present for Ellie; Christmas day with friends and family. A heartwaming time of year. Loved when Alice busted BnT. Too funny. Still wiping the tears from my eyes. Please continue this brilliant tale soon. Your Loyal Fan.

    7. Thanks for the update. I can’t believe how well Ellie is taking all of this. I guess she’s a well adjusted kid from having a lot of support from her parents as she grew up. It would be a little difficult having both of your parents sleeping with their new partners under the same roof….
