Elizabeth looked at Tina and smiled
“Sorry – old habit – I was brought up as a catholic “
“Whatever helps you “ Tina said
“You and Bette are not really religious are you ?”
“Its not something we talk about “ Tina said honestly “My parents are very anti- religion and its not something that has touched my life “
“Melvin hated me going to church and he wouldn’t let me take Bette”
“Bette is very adamant that she never wants me to meet him”
“And would you like to meet him ?”
“I don’t think I would be able to be civil to him – he has hurt her so much and in so many ways that – no – I don’t think I would be able to meet him and treat him well”
“Between us Melvin and I have really hurt Bette “
“What hurt her was the thought that she hadn’t been good enough for you- that you had left because you didn’t love her. Now that she knows the truth – she is much happier and more secure “
“That’s kind of you to say so Tina but I don’t doubt that Bette’s happiness is because of you “
“We are happy “ Tina said “But I don’t think its just me “

“She adores you – that’s obvious and from what she has said – she hasn’t been that good at long term relationships “
Tina didn’t really want to explain her relationship with Bette to anyone at the moment – it didn’t feel right when Bette was so ill only a few rooms away from where they were sitting

“I wish I knew more about this illness “
“Me too – I just thought babies got it “

“Have you called Hannah ?”
“She is in New York but she is going to cut short her trip “
Tina looked again at her watch – time was not going past very fast when she needed it to. She stared around the room trying to shift every one of her thoughts being about her beloved Bette – the woman she loved – the woman she cherished – the woman she was going to marry.

Thankfully James knew the symptoms and got her to the hospital in time and because of his quick action she will be alright in time. That is such good news. Where is Kit by the way, thought she was in town. Great post. thanks.

I had to go back a read again the last 2 chapters to get myself back in the “know” on this story!! I hope Bette gets well soon and the wedding is not in jeopardY!! PPS…I missed this story!!
