Tina swallowed “Thank you “
Bette placed the softest kiss on her lips “It’s okay – are you ready?”
“Ready as I will ever be “Tina replied “Let’s get out coats on and go have lunch with my mom “
Emma wasn’t going to take any risks with being late. She had arrived at The Breslin 40 minutes earlier than the scheduled time she was due to meet Bette and Tina. She had sat with a coffee reading the New York Times and having a nice time watching the late breakfast crowd mingling and eavesdropping in on some conversations..
She glanced up from her newspaper just as they walked in – Emma was slightly hidden behind a wall so she was able to observe them for a few minutes. Bette looked much more mature than she had four years ago – she looked taller as well. She watched as Tina looked around the bar and turned back to Bette to speak – Bette smiled. Emma shook her head – that smile of hers – that amazing smile that lit her face up. Yes – that smile was still there. Tina looked around again – – she looked concerned. Even though she was 23 she had a lot to put up with – the whole business with Kate had affected Tina in ways that Emma could only guess at. Plus this meeting had to be worrying her – she would want everything to go smoothly – Emma was determined that it would. Tina was talking to Bette who put her hand on Tina’s face and kissed her gently. A kiss of reassurance – that was nice. Emma remembered that Bette had always been calm – she was the one who had grounded the frequently unpredictable and volatile Tina. Bette took Tina’s hand and they walked further into the bar – several heads jerked up to watch them – Emma smiled. They were a fabulously attractive couple – but then she had thought that from the first time she had seen them together – that had been the morning after Tina had come out to them and admitted that she had fallen in love with her school friend Bette Porter.
Bette saw Emma first – she looked around and spotted the older woman – Bette smiled and said something in Tina’s ear. The blonde swung round and when she saw her mother she broke into her own beaming smile. She reached her mother first

Ah Ha! Revelations abound. Great chapter, Good humor (or humour) evident and a sincere attempt to be cordial, open and honest from all parties. Bette does seem so mature and measured in her responses to Emma. Kate was/is a sneaky little ferret. Thanks for the rapid posting. I hope this story goes on for quite some time. Please don’t leave us. We <3 you.

I am sure Tina will reward Bette well for being so well behaved during lunch. It is good to see Emma and Bette getting along well which shows how much Tina means to them. I am loving the intrigue with Kate joining a rival firm.

Damn Kate! At this rate she will be standing in the subway with a tin cup. I hope Alex is as rich as everyone think but Miss Kate has shot herself in the pocketbook. Glad to see Bette and Emma try to make it for Tina’s sake. Emma knows that Bette is smart and kind no threat to her and she needs to play nice to keep Tina in her life. Thanks for the three posts. The Easter Bunny came early.

Thanks for all the posts. Happy that Bette and Emma are getting along well. Kate has really turned out to be a prized rat. All this time we thought Emma was the rat and evil one now we find out that Kate has those titles well in hand. Hope Emma tells Tina about Kate having all the affairs in the past and Emma knew about them all along. She loved Kate and forgave her the affairs. Still Kate was not content to just leave, she has to try and wreck everything that they had built. this divorce hearing is going to be a toe curling, screaming rant from Kate. She will end up with nothing more than the pre-nup and if she isn’t careful she may forfeit that as well as her license to practice. Then if the girlfriend is not as well off as everyone assumes, then she will be out on her hiny with nothing and no one. She will certainly lose Tina when all this comes to light. I just hope she does not turn on Tina as well, that would just take Tina down to nothing, at least for a little time but Bette won’t let that happen. Thanks for posting.

You are on a roll Ally! Didn’t see that betrayal coming from Kate. Wow, Kate has just become the biggest scrub. First with cheating on Emma then with breach of contract to Emma’s firm. Don’t know if she can make amends with Tina at this point. Great story!

When I have fantasies while writing my Bette and Tina stories I think of who I would like to swoop in as the ultimate ass kicker if Bette is otherwise engaged, or in jail. I haven’t used it yet but I imagine a psychic mash up that includes Joyce, Peggy Peabody and when Bette revives or disentangles she finishes the egregious toad with a swift lizard skinned toe kick back to their slimy pond. Viola’ all that’s left is to clean the walls of blood and hair and probably some dry cleaning bills. VERY happy to be reading your stories! Thanks so much for your writing. BLACKBIRD
This version of Kate worries me and should worry Emma and the Porters as well. If this thing gets to court I wouldn’t put it past Kate to bring up things like what happened in college b/w them and the Porters just to be spiteful and regardless of the collateral damage (Bette and Tina). The Porters and Emma might need to have an uncomfortable conversation with their daughters sooner rather than later. I think the girls can handle it and will appreciate the honesty. If they find out the truth from Kate in some mean spirited way I don’t think they’ll side with Kate, but they might both lose some trust in their parents. Post soon!
I am so glad for Tina that Emma & Bette are getting along. Too bad Kate is being so revengeful. Never thought she would stoop that low. Hope Emma takes action. She needs to protect her employees from the firm as well as Tina’s future. Can’t wait for next update.
