    So We Meet Again: Chapter 15

    RING…RING…

     

    Sam: “Mom?” she says as she answers the phone.

    Bette: “Yeah. Are you ok?” she asks worried about her daughter.

    Sam: “I am fine mom; are you?”

    Bette: “I am doing alright. I was wondering if it would be ok with you if I stayed over with Hope’s mom and talked. Do you feel comfortable enough to stay the night over there with Hope?”

    Sam: “Yeah mom that is fine. I am already in bed; Carmen hooked me up so I will just see you tomorrow. I love you mom goodnight.” she says not mentioning that Hope is not taking things as well so she doesn’t put more strain on her mother.

    Bette: “Night Sam; I love you to the moon and back.” she says hanging the phone up and walking to the living room only hearing Tina’s side of the conversation to Shane.

    Tina: “I don’t know Shane…I feel like I am an asshole who kept her from knowing her daughter all these years.” she says running her hand through her hair. “I feel like she hates me…well yes she is staying the night…I just I need her to hold me; it’s the only time I feel whole and safe.” she says hearing footsteps. “Shane thank you for letting Hope stay the night. I will talk to you tomorrow.” she says hanging up the phone and turning to see Bette staring at her from the hallway.

    Bette: “I could never hate you Tina.”

    Tina: “I hate myself…”

    Bette: “You shouldn’t. Let’s go lie down, get some sleep and start over in the morning,” she says taking Tina by the hand and walking towards the bedroom.

                Tina lay snuggled in as close to Bette as she could be. Bette wrapped her arms around Tina and they both fell asleep thinking of the possibilities that tomorrow was going to bring.

     

                Tina had been up for about a half an hour when the sun finally shown through the blinds; the morning sun brought with it the promise of a new day. Tina had been watching Bette sleep; it was a view that she had been missing for the last 16 years. The longer Tina watched Bette the harder it was for her not to touch Bette and wake her up; she wanted to enjoy this moment for as long as she could. Tina only lasted five minutes longer before she gave into the temptation and reached over to feel Bette’s soft skin under her fingertips. Bette felt something lying atop the right side of her body; in her morning haze she had yet to remember where she was and when she felt something brush her cheek she immediately opened her eyes. It took her only two or three seconds for the haze to leave her eyes and Tina to come into perfectly clear view.

    8. Welcome back girl. I have been totally bummed and have missed this story. I do not know exactly how many times that I have re-read this story but I have really missed it. So IMO you should definitely continue. Sorry about life not going well, but I am happy to hear that your family is so supportive.
