    Shhh… Don’t Tell Anyone Part.18

After the wedding and wedding night Shane was very serious and quiet, not really like a newlywed is supposed to look like.

    – Honey, is everything ok? – Carmen asked scared that Shane might’ve changed her mind.

    – Ummm… I dunno… I mean… I don’t know if you’re ok with this Shay thing, he’s my brother my responsibility, not yours and now you have to deal with it… I don’t know you’ve got enough on your plate with Dylan right now.-

    – Shane, we’re married now, what’s yours is mine, including responsibilities, and yes I’m ok with Shay coming to live with us, he’s a good kid and it will be nice for Dylan to have an older brother, it’ll be a bit hard for us, but I think we can do it, the kids can share Dylan’s bedroom ‘till we get something bigger, and we’ll be fine.-   Shane smiled widely and kissed Carmen gently on the lips while holding her tight.

    – Well… on that note, I have a surprise for you, and I think you’ll like it a lot.-

-What is it? – Carmen was very curious

    – Nope, it’s a surprise… you’ll find out soon enough.-

Honeymoon was over a week after the wedding, and everyone was ready to go. Just before they took a cab to the airport Shane blindfolded Carmen and explained that it all had to do with her wedding gift.

Carmen spent the entire flight blindfolded and kinda moody, she still wasn’t allowed to see when they got off the plain and took a cab, she could only hear Shane’s voice talking to Shay, and Dylan’s babbling, she felt very out of control and she did not like it at all, but at the same time she was very excited to see the surprise, it had to be that Shane had their apartment repainted or some new furniture, she was so sure…

Something felt different about the city, it was warmer than it used to be and she felt really good to be there, like she was really home, and she had never felt like that before in New York, maybe it was ‘cause this time she was married and with two kids now.  But there was something weird the smell of the city, didn’t really match, it smelled like salty and fresh. You don’t get that in N.Y. but everything was explained when the cab stopped and she felt her wife’s hands helping her out,  she was helped to walk a few steps and then the blindfold was off.

Carmen was speechless; she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Shane, Shay and Dylan were standing in front of the house were everything started, the house they used to share with Jenny. Tears started to fall down Carmen’s face, Shane walked to her and extended her hand for her to take, and she did, the two of them together entered the house, it was empty, but the smell was unmistakable, they were home.
