    Sharpen Up The Knives 7

I walk back to the Rover and help Carmen get the stuff and we walk slowly to the end of the lot towards our room. Room number 54. The room is nice and small a full size bed. No window except for the bathroom and near the only entrance/ exit. That’s good. A brick wall behind us. Good. No shrubbery by or under the window sill on account of it being winter and all. Good, a small kitchen. A small TV. And a bible in the table by the bed. I unload everything we where carrying and everything my murdering sisters had stored in the Rover. I find a bottle of water and drink it down in one gulp. I snack on a ration and find some clothes after all.

Carmen plops down on the mattress and stares at the ceiling. I prop a chair under the door just in case. I place my gun on the table beside me. I get a pillow and a blanket and lay it down on the floor.

“Shane you are not going to sleep on the floor. There is enough room for both of us.”

“I know. But I need to be ready. You know incase of something.”

    “I see.”

I get my gun off the table and lay it down next to my pillow. Carmen takes off the winter suit I gave her. I look away. Even though I have seen it, tasted it. Even though whenever my mind stopped I thought of her and our most perfect moment. Even thru all of that I still look away. I am such a nerd.

    “You are very unlikely shane.”

    “Uh….thank you.”

    “You’re so very welcome.”

    “How is your wound?”

“Good. Its there I can feel it. How’s yours?” She says running her nail along the bandage.

    “Same. I can feel it.”

“Life sure is weird isn’t it?”

    “Yes Carmen it is.”

    “I don’t know if I can sleep?”

“Yeah you can. As soon as your head hits the pillow you will fall asleep.”

    “Please…..lay next to me.”

“Carmen I can’t. We almost got caught. It could happen again.”

    1. love the way you write. it’s kinda wierd you make totally different stories to the show but characters are same. it feel like i am seeing 2 time zones with same persons in the universe. i’ve copied pages as you updated then i have never bored on going to work. XD thanks

    2. Wow. I love the way you give so much depth to the characters. There’s Carmen, who’s sweet and open, but at the same time she has a troubled past that she’s hiding from. And Shane, a calculating, intelligent machine, who, despite all her training and conditioning, is (somewhere inside) still that orphan who just wants to be taken in and loved. Well, that’s just how I see it, anyway. Also, I like that they both have shady pasts; it pushes the characters and the overall story that much closer to the edge. Awesome job, seriously.
