“What a mess,” Molly lamented. “Next year, no wrapping paper! Gift bags only.”

Shane laughed, as she reached under the table beside her and pulled out a bag. “Like this one?”

“Shane!”

“Merry Christmas, Moll.”

“You didn’t have to get me anything,” she said softly, as she took the bag from Shane’s hands. Pulling a black velvet box from the bag, she sighed. She opened it up to reveal a beautiful past, present, future diamond pendant. Her eyes wide, Molly turned to Shane and said, “Babe, it’s beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you,” Shane said sheepishly. She took the necklace from the box and as Molly turned around, she put it around her neck. “The first stone represents the past, the next, the present, and the last and biggest, the future.” As she clasped it together, she placed a kiss to the nape of her neck and said, “Our future.”

Molly turned back around and caressing Shane’s cheek, kissed her sweetly. “I love you so much.” Just as Shane was about to kiss Molly again, Molly put her hand up, smiled and told her to wait. She ran into their bedroom and emerged with a box, beautifully wrapped. Handing it to Shane, she said “Merry Christmas.”

Shane smiled as she began to unwrap the present to reveal a brand new top of the line digital camera. “Molly, you didn’t!”

Molly nodded and asked, “Do you like it?”

“I love it! This is amazing. I wanted this camera! How’d you know?”

“I just did,” Molly said, shrugging her shoulders. Shane pulled Molly to her and kissed her. She placed the box on the table beside her and pulled Molly to her so she was leaning against her chest. They sat in comfortable silence for a while, as Molly fingered the necklace she was now wearing and Shane studied the photo that Shay had given them.

“I still can’t believe he gave us this,” she said out of no where.

“He’s an amazing kid,” Molly said, as she too studied the picture. “It was so wonderful to see Christmas through his eyes this morning. I forgot how exciting Christmas could be.”

“Yeah,” Shane said whimsically. “Kids are great. I see Bette and Tina with Angelica and it just blows me away. I can’t wait til we have some of our own.”

“Really?!” Molly asked, as she bent her head back to look at Shane.

“Yeah. Really. I want to have a family with you,” Shane said sincerely, as she pressed a kiss to the top of Molly’s head.

“Me too,” Molly admitted, as she entwined her fingers with Shane’s. “Me too.”
