Bette locked up the gallery for lunch and they made a short walk to a Greek restaurant a couple of blocks away. Once seated and lunch orders taken, Bette quietly asked, not sure what answer she hoped for. “Why did you come Tina?”
“Are you surprised that I’m here.” Tina wasn’t sure how to take Bette’s question.
“Surprised is an understatement. I didn’t expect to see you until a day or two before the exhibit.”
“I was intrigued.” Tina was looking over the top of her water glass as she took a slow sip.
“This visit was merely to see the gallery? Bette’s voice had softened.
“ …. And it’s owner. I wanted to see you.” Tina looked down as she returned her glass to the table top.
Bette couldn’t help but question her. “Tina, it wasn’t supposed to mean anything. It was a beautiful night. I had a wonderful time and I think you did too.”
“I .. had .. a wonderful time.” Tina’s eyes were locked in a gaze with Bette.
“I came to Paris to persuade you to show your work in my gallery. I never expected what happened to happen.”
“Nor did I, believe me, I wasn’t expecting anything” Tina ran her finger around the lip of her glass.
“We live a half a world apart and our lives are worlds apart. What do you want out of this?” Bette was so absolutely shocked by Tina’s revelation she hadn’t really had time to process it.
“When I originally planned to come to L.A., I wanted to see your gallery. But … … after …… well … I wanted to see what, if anything there might be to this. Obviously I was wrong about that part of my visit. Let’s talk about the exhibit.” Tina could not wait to change the subject. She had not intended to broach the subject over a quick lunch. Bette segued into conversation about the gallery, lighting and wall color to suit the art that would adorn it’s walls. The discourse became much more relaxed as Tina and Bette fell into a less formal conversation. They ended up talking about a myriad of things and they began to seem like old friends who hadn’t seen each other in years.

I love this impromptu visit from Tina. I believe that Tina is going after Bette and Bette does not stand a chance of escaping with her heart. That organ already belongs to Tina only neither one knows it yet.
I’m sorry I haven’t commented before, though I have been a delighted reader from the very start. I am thrilled whenever I see a that a new chapter has posted. Tina pursuing a reluctant Bette is so much fun. I can’t wait for more.

HA, Bette has no idea what she’s in for. It seems our Ms. Kenard has plans for her and Bette doesn’t know it yet, but she will go along with them. It fun to see Bette thrown a bit off guard.
Oh Bette, you have fallen so hard you dont even know it yet, and Tina has her beady little eyes set on you. Dont argue, dont fight, dont resist, just enjoy and fall into committment, and let it take its natural course.
These two just don’t know what they are in for. I am totally enjoying how this is playing out. pps
Oh DJRK, you just made us laugh, when we think that Tina has an ace under her sleeve and Bette is just playing deaf to what her senses are telling her. But, she also doesn’t want Tina to think she slept with her to accomplish the exhibit. In the end, Bette would not understand when she started falling for this amazing artist. Love the journey youre taking us on with this story! I really enjoy “your” tina – she will get bette where she wants her to be: by her side, in her life and in her bed hopefully very soon again.
