Chapter XXVII

         Across town Alice and Tasha laid in there bed in Alice’s apartment, looking at one another.

Tasha: can I asked you something

               Alice smiling, sure go ahead what is it?

Tasha: I didn’t mean to but I found a picture pro tennis player in your shoe box. Is she your fantasy crush?

    Alice paused for a moment, it has been awhile since she thought of Dana, and her eyes began to water.

 Tasha noticed, I am sorry, I didn’t mean to be nosy.

Alice: No, you’re fine. I just haven’t thought about her in a long time.

Tasha: was she you’re girlfriend

Alice: and my best friend

Tasha: so where is she now?

              Alice felt a pain in her chest, sniffled and wiped her tears; “she passed away a long time ago”.

Tasha didn’t know what to say, “You don’t have to Alice, say no more”.

Alice sat up in the bed, “No it’s okay”. My therapist said one day it will eventually come up again. It’s best that I talk about it. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it had spread, the doctor’s performed a mastectomy, I was so mean to her Tasha.

Tasha: why were you so mean to her?

Alice: we were dating, she cheated on her girlfriend with me, we had a lot of feelings for each other and then one day, she got back with her ex and I treated her like shit, I didn’t know until it was too late, too late for me to make it up to her. She was great, fun to be around, she played professional tennis. Alice looked at her picture and shed tears till she fell asleep. Tasha held Alice next to her. “I am sorry baby”, she whispered and kissed Alice on the temple.

Chapter XXVIII

     In the movie room where Sloan watched a movie, Carmen sat next to her held her hand watching the movie with her. Carmen bit on the bottom lip as she watched Sloan who was transfixed on the projector screen that hung over the wall. Sloan didn’t look at Carmen. Carmen was getting fed up; they needed to talk about it. Sloan was into the movie, but not so much. She had other things on her mind also.
