The air was cold in New York City and a thin layer of sleet was starting to fall. Bette trudged through the thin layer of snow and walked into the little hotel in the Bronx. Bette was uneasy in the dangerous city, there were people staring at her and a sense of eerieness in the dark street.

Bette hurriedly walked into the restaurant of the hotel once she saw one of concierges who looked suspiciously creepy. She had spotted Patty at first and she took a deep breath to calm her anger. She would worry about pressing fraud charges later, but now she needed to deal with this allegedly ‘sorry’ sister.

She knew it was Tina’s sister as soon as she saw her. She looked exactly like Tina but older. Bette kept her face blank as she sat down at the table in across from them. Mary looked pale and weak and she had a shawl wrapped around her head hiding her baldness.

    "Bette," Patty said tentatively.

"You shut up," Bette snapped pointing a finger at Patty, "I am not here to talk to you. I am here to talk to Mary, and you’re lucky I’m not pressing charges yet!"

"I knew going in that I was risking my career," Patty said, "do what you must."

    "Oh I will," Bette growled.

"I hope that my son won’t have to pay for my mistakes," Mary said, "I don’t want Christian to be alone and you and Tina would be good for him."

"How do you know that? You haven’t seen Tina in more than twenty years," Bette said narrowing her eyes.

"She was always the good one," Mary said, "I was jealous and vile. I wish I would have seen that before."

"And you see it now?" Bette said cocking an eyebrow, "so that’s why you sent your son undercover to try to get close to Tina, knowing that no one in this world caused her more pain than you have."

Mary dropped her head in tears as Patty draped her arm across her shoulders, "don’t be so harsh."

"Harsh!?" Bette said scoffing, "Mary knows the exact definition of harsh doesn’t she? And who the hell are you to be telling me what to do?"

    1. Since so many readers are from different parts of the US and from other countries, I want to correct the description of NYC as dangerous. According to Forbes, NYC is the sixth safest city in the US. (Hey, Tibetter24, this flushed me out from lurking!)

    2. where the hell did that come from and why were they in such a seedy hotel? Glad the police got there when they did. Mary is going to hell for sure and patty is going to jail hopefully. pps
