"Mom," Christian said softly into the phone, "I feel so bad about this. Aunt Tina opened her heart and her home to me and I am not only lying to her I have her child involved. I need to tell her the truth."

"I am not ready son," Mary responded warily.

"With all due respect, this is not about you anymore," Christian said, "this is about Aunt Tina and I feel bad for lying to her. Her and Aunt Bette are leaving for the three day weekend and they’re leaving me in charge of Andy and Angie. Do you know how much trust that takes?"

"I understand son," Mary said in defeat, "tell them if you must."

"I won’t ruin their much needed vacation, I will tell them the whole truth when they return," Christian said.

"As you wish son, I just hope Tina finds it in her heart to forgive me," Mary said.

"And she has a heart of gold mother, you were so wrong about her," Christian said.

"I was wrong about everything," Mary said breaking into tears, "Louis’ death was no one’s fault but my own. I should have been a better driver."

"Mom it was no one’s fault but that asshole drunk driver," Christian said, "you did all you could to avoid him. If you wouldn’t have swerved all three of you would have perished."

"Chris," Mary said crying, "I was so selfish. My only concern was protecting myself at that moment. Don’t you realize that if Louis wouldn’t have jumped in the way, Tina would have died?"

"That’s not what Aunt Tina blames you for," Christian says.

Mary sighed, "either way this goes, I think it’ll bring closure for both of us."

"Even if she doesn’t forgive you?"

"Then at least I’ll have done everything in my power to earn her forgiveness."

Christian sighed, "I really hope this works mom. Even Tina’s kids have been all lovie dovie just to show the importance of brotherly and sisterly love. Andy doesn’t know what’s going he just likes the attention from Angie."

"I want to meet them," Mary said.

"That’s up to Aunt Tina," Christian said, "and on Monday as soon as they come back they will know the truth."

"Patty and I will pray," Mary said.

    1. So glad Bette caught the lying little shit. Somehow, I feel whatever happens next will be a double cross in some way. Always thought something was wrong with this whole scenario, Patty did not seem on the level to me but, for some reason I couldn’t put my hand on what it was. Now I understand that it was not done completely legal in the way that it was presented. No paperwork would have ever been signed outside the presence of the court and in a court hearing, even if it was done in the judges’ private chambers. But it would still have been a legal hearing in the presence of all the court personnel. Now I wonder what the paper were that they signed. Patty should be charged and jailed as well as Mary and Chris for fraud. Can’t wait for your next chapter. Thanks.
