Pieces Of Time – Chapter XVI

I watch as she walks away.

”She ok?” Rachel says wrapping her arms around my waist.

”I have no idea.” I reply.

”This is such a beautiful night.”

”Yeah, this really is a great spot.”

”I’m excited to see Alice’s face.”

”She is going to be the happiest.”

I continue to chat with Rachel but watch Tina from the distance.

    …

I pour myself some vodka that sits next to all the other various liquors, most I cannot even pronounce.

I feel a hand grip my shoulder and I turn to see Shane.

”Hey, how are you doing?” She asks.

I try to pull a smile but fail at all attempts.

    ”Danielle. She uh- left.”

    ”Left? Left the party?”

    ”No. Left the resort.”

”Wait what?” Shane says moving closer towards me. ”What happened?”

”Clearly she wanted the job more.”

”You think she left because she chose the job over you?”

”She never stopped with the phone calls the entire time she was here so, more then likely yes.” I take a big swallow of my drink before pouring myself more.

”How the hell could she do this?”

”All I remember was our little argument before dinner and then I took a little troll to clear my mind and when I got back, she was gone.”

    ”I am so sorry Tina.”

”There was nothing you could do about it. There was nothing I could do about it.” I take another big swallow of vodka. ”It’s just me and my drink tonight.” I go to cheers Shane and again take a sip.

    ”Have you told Bette?”

    ”No, I haven’t.”

”I don’t think she is going to take likely to this news, Tina.”

”That is why I choose not to tell her.” I say before grabbing a grape from the fruit dish and walking away.

I see Helena sitting alone so I decide to step towards her to join.

    ”Tina, hello.”

    ”Where is Dylan?”

”She went to change.” Helena smiles.

    ”How is everything?”

    ”Peachy.”

”The kids seem to be loving each day.”

”I’ve noticed. They’re all getting along great.”

    ”Where might Danielle be?”

I gather my thoughts before responding. ”She decided not to come.”

    ”Why is that?”

”Tired.” I say and slowly look away.

    1. Great update. Rachel needs to come clean with Bette and Shane needs to put a zipper on it and stay to herself. This info will not bother Bette too much because her feelings are for Tina, not Rachel. Tina needs to stop running away from Bette and let herself feel. She knows she still loves Bette and they need to sit still and talk about their feelings. Great chapter. Thanks for posting.
