No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Chapter 45

    Tina: Daphne?

Her eyes flew open when she remembered that Tina was still in the room.

    Daphne: Yeah?

    Daphne moved closer to Tina.

Tina: I think maybe I will take that drink now.

It took Avery almost two hours to get Bette back to her apartment. They had to stop every 5 minutes so Bette could tell Avery how ok she really was and how free she felt. This of course was a defense mechanism. One, Avery assumed, that Bette used a lot. After all, no one could truly be that “strong.”

Avery: Just sit down and relax. I’ll make you some tea.

Bette cringed at the word.  She hated tea.

    Bette: Got anything stronger?

    Avery looked around the apartment.

    Avery: Whiskey?

    Bette: Too strong.

    She smiled.

Bette: I was thinking maybe coffee.

Avery: Oh right. I forgot you’re an addict.

Bette: You know it. Only the hard stuff for me.

Bette sat down on the ottoman at the foot of the bed.

Bette: What time is rehearsal tomorrow?

Avery: Um I think we have to be there at 10. I’ll double check in a minute.

Bette watched as Avery toyed with the coffee pot.

Bette: How old is that thing?  It looks like it was made in the 70’s.

Avery: Oh come on. It’s not that bad.

Bette: It’s the color of an avocado.

Avery: Ok fine, so it was my mom’s when she was in college.

    Bette ginned in victory.

Avery: At least it still works. And it makes a damn fine cup of coffee if I do say so myself.

Bette: I think I better be the judge of that.

    Avery: Fair enough.

For the next ten minutes the women sat in silence. Avery watched the coffee brew into the pot and Bette watched Avery. She really was a great friend.

Bette: I really am thankful to have you as a friend Avery.

Avery couldn’t believe the sincerity in Bette’s voice.

    Avery: I’m grateful too.

    Bette rolled her eyes.

Bette: yeah I bet. I mean who could ask for more in a friend. We barely ever spoke before this and suddenly you have become my shoulder to cry on and my rock to lean on.

Avery: Don’t forget the bed you sleep with…

    1. Guess who’s back? Back again…. Shady’s back…… Tell a friend….This is the best thing to happen since the Democrats won control of Congress!!Actually….this might be better.

    2. F…ing DIE, Ashley! Of course Daphne does not deserve Tina. Flair, you have us on the rollercoaster of love, as usual! Chapter in and chapter out, how do you do it? I am in awe of your skill at cliffhangers! MWAH!

    3. Damn this is sad to see B&T split up. Ashley need to die don’t like her, maybe Alice and Alex will have a plan that will make Ashley tell the true about her secret. Ok post soon please, thanks!

    4. Well Flair, This is almost unbearable as Tina and Bett fall further apart and Ashley gets away scott free. There demands to be payback for all this horridness and I hope that Alice and Alex get a chance to help Tina dish it out. Avery is a wonderful friend to Bette and her awkwardness was hilariously portrayed. Keep this fabulous story coming as I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. An amazing ride. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
