Never Say Never: Chp.9 Longing…You Go Away
“I love you, everything will be ok.” Carmen picked up her bag and kissed Shane on the lips.
“Wait.” Carmen turned another time to figure out why Shane had told her
to wait. Shane said nothing and when Carmen made another attempt Shane
finally opened her mouth.
“Carmen” Shane lifted her eyes from the ground and stepped closer.
“I know you’re only going for a couple days, but I hate knowing that I
won’t wake up with you next to me tomorrow morning. And when you told
me you had to go, I think I almost stopped breathing. Every time I’m
near you, I feel safe. I’ve never felt like that in my whole life.”
Shane tried to hold back her tears.
“I don’t care what anyone says, not my friends, not your mom, or
your dad. I want to be with you. And you scare me sometimes, all the
time. But I love that you do that. I love being scared with you, cuz I
really don’t know what we’ll turn into. But I like what we have now and
I don’t want that to go away.” Shane pulled the suitcase away from
Carmen’s hands and guided her arm over and around her shoulders. She
pulled Carmen closer by the waist and kissed her. A kiss that was
unforgettable. The kind that said, “I’ll be waiting for you when you
come back.”
Shane spent most of her time catching up with the
girls just taking it one step at a time. It was at night where she
found it the hardest. She was so use to having Carmen beside her, even
when she was gone, she only took up one side of the bed. She needed to
keep herself busy, so on Monday night the girls met up at the planet
and enjoyed each other’s company.
“Hey, I think those girls over there are checking you out Shane.” Shane
didn’t pay much attention to the girls or Bette’s comment.
“ha-ha, no way. You should have seen Shane at the cabin. She was all
over Carmen. There’s no way in *****. Shane wouldn’t even think it.”
“Yah you should know.” Shane replied.
“Is this about me watching you guys getting it onwho told you?” Alice
turned to notice her girlfriend slightly redder than usual.
“I was just checking if you were doing it right.” Alice smiled
mischievously and continued the conversation. Shane got up from the
table after downing her last beer and told the girls she was going to
call it a night. She turned down the offers for rides and decided she
would just walk home.
