Never Say Never: Chp.9 Longing…You Go Away

“Hey that isn’t so bad.” Shane stopped a moment to think. It was bad.
It was the worst situation possible. Things were going so right and
they just go back from an amazing trip and now she would have to live
without Carmen for two days. The tasked seemed impossible but she did
her best to hide it from Carmen. She had to be strong for her no matter
    what.
“I think I’m going to get my stuff together and just head home. This
way it won’t be so bad when I see my mom tomorrow.” Shane zoned out.
    “You ok Shane?”

    “Yah, yah I’m fine.”
Carmen got up to go to the room and sort out her stuff while Shane
remained on the steps watching the kids play on the street just down
the road. The thought of Carmen leaving made it hard for her to breath.

Carmen was already in the room gathering her
toothbrush and random things that she left behind. While she pulled
some clothes from out under the bed, she realized that she wouldn’t be
seeing Shane in awhile and it hurt. She was about to get up and find
her just to tell her how she felt but when she was just about to stand
up, Shane was already standing at the door. Carmen was speechless. It
was like she knew exactly what she was thinking. She moved the hair
    from her face

“Shane.” She stood still at the doorway trying to avoid looking at the
love of her life knowing she would be leaving soon. Carmen walked up to
her and took a deep sigh. “Shane, I wanted to say thank you.”

“yah?” Shane tried to play it off like she usually would with her hands
in her back pockets. Carmen touched her face, tilting it until she was
face to face with her girlfriend and after a frozen moment, Carmen
    spoke her heart.
“You’ve been so good too me in the past couple of days. I don’t
know how to thank you. And I feel like I don’t want to let go cause
your everything to me.” Shane looked up and noticed the tears forming
    in Carmen’s eyes.
“You don’t have to say anything back, just, I just, I want you to
listen to what I had to say and how I felt.” Carmen now doubted what
she said, what if she had scared her off? She took a deep breath and
walked back to the bed to fold the rest of her clothes. Shane stayed at
the doorway and watched her the whole time. And though Carmen noticed
it, she stayed quiet. She’d rather have Shane in front of her than
    anywhere else.
“K, I think that’s it.” Carmen took a glimpse around the room one
last time incase she missed anything. She picked up her bag and walked
passed Shane and headed for the front door.
“Shane?” Carmen yelled from the front of the house. She walked slowly towards Carmen and stopped right in front of her.
“Just tell me that you love me and that things will be ok.” Shane looked into her eyes and said what she wished.
