“Shit!” Tina whispered. She just called me Tina.

Bette looked through the pockets and was surprised to find only one item in it. She looked at it and was supposed to ask Tina if she needed it when the name on the card caught her eyes. What the fuck is this?

Least to say, Bette was irritated. What is his card doing in my girlfriend’s suit? So when Tina asked her about her phone, she replied back and let the business card’s presence known. There was silence in the room and Bette waited for a reply from Tina.

Tina emerged from the room wearing her skirt and bra. She walked towards Bette and took the card. She looked directly at Bette and started to explain.

“I saw him at the studio parking lot when I was about to leave. He apologized for his behavior before and wanted to talk some more to explain his side. I said I was in a hurry and I can’t talk. He suggested coffee and gave me his card. I felt trapped so I gave him mine.” Tina carefully explained.

“Did you tell him about me?”

“He asked about you. Wondering how you’re doing. I said you’re doing well.”

“Did you tell him that you are now my girlfriend?”

“Not exactly, I mean, babe, the conversation never went that far. The guy is apologizing to me. I can’t just blurt out that “Hey, you know what, you were right, I was in love with Bette all along and the greatest part of it is we are now together. She’s my girlfriend and I am hers”.”

“He wants to have coffee with you, Tee. And since you didn’t say anything about us he might as well think that he has another chance with you.” And with that Bette walked away from Tina, went to their room and closed the door.

“What am I going to do with you, Porter?” Tina said with an exasperated sigh. She went to the couch, sat and waited long enough before she approached Bette.

Bette was lying on the bed with the lights off when she heard a knock.

“Babe, can I come in?” Tina asked.

“Ok.” Bette said and turned to her side.

Tina crouched in front of Bette and brushed the stray hair that has fallen on her beautiful girlfriend’s face.

“I love you, you know that?” Tina asked. She didn’t get a response. Bette was just staring at her.

“I love you even when you are illogically jealous. I love you even though you are insanely stubborn. And I love you even though you didn’t give me a chance to explain my side earlier.” Tina whispered.

Despite trying to keep her tears at bay hearing Tina say those words made Bette’s eyes let go of the tears that she has been holding back.

“Do you want me to call him right now and tell him that I am utterly in love and devoted with my girlfriend. Which is by the way you, in case there’s a misunderstanding here.” Tina smiled.

Bette shook her head no.

“Babe, I don’t care if he wants to get back together with me. And even if he does he wouldn’t have any chance at all because there’s no one in this world I would rather spend my lifetime loving than you. You are the one for me and I know that now. So please, let’s not ruin today by dwelling on this. It was a random meeting. If you don’t want me to have coffee with him, I won’t. I would do anything you want but please, let’s get past this.”

“I’m sorry.” Bette whispered through her tears.

“I’m sorry too. Are we ok now?”

“Yes.”

“Can you scoot over then? I need a cuddle.”

And for the first time since the spat, Bette smiled.
