    My One Special One – Chapter 33 Part 1

    Umm, Sharon thought, I bet Mom has told Tina and Greg already, leaving the ‘baby’ for last…She reached for the phone, started to punch in Tina’s number, then stopped.

    Sharon knew exactly what her brother and sister would say, “Let Mom tell you.”  So she put the phone down and went about her chores.  Tomorrow would get here soon enough.

    * * *

    While Sharon went about her day and waited for the phone call, Greg Kennard was thinking about the call he had already received from his mother a couple weeks ago.

    Mom is in love…and it’s with a woman –“ it’s a woman, Greg.  Someone I knew many , many years ago. I know you may not understand this, but please know I am so very happy.”

    God knows she was so miserable with my father.  He certainly was not a bad man and he was always good to his kids, but it became so evident in later years how ill-fitted they were as a couple.

    All that went on – or didn’t go on – between his parents certainly made Greg very cautious in his own relationships.  He wanted that certain someone in his life, he wanted the glow of love to light up his world but he didn’t want to end up as his parents did – sharing a bed and a life with the wrong someone.   Staying together for what seems the right reasons – children, a moral obligation to honor a commitment, but as right as the reasons seem at the time, in the long run, the unhappiness breeds resentment and the worst of all emotions – indifference.

    His mom was always there for him and this was his time to be there for her.  Tina had surprised him with her choice for love ever after but he loved his big sis also and it simply didn’t matter to him who the people were that his sisters or, now, his mother loved.

    “Well, how about you, Mom!  Good for you.  She better be good to you, hear?”

    They spoke for a few more moments.  Greg felt his mother needed to hear a bit more assurance that all was okay.
